Carolina intersted in Carlos Rogers

Asante played against Jake in the 2009 opener, "padding" his stats I'm sure.

Instead of flashy INT numbers, give me the guy who rarely sees a pass enter his vicinity. That defines shut-down.

So your argument is that BC he had one game against a bad QB, the stats for the rest of his season should be thrown out the window?

Edit: Asante was targeted 46 times in 09, and 34 times in 2010(Only 11 games). Both seasons he was #1 in the NFL in yards per pass play that he was a part of. If thats not a shut down corner I dont know what is

would help us for sure in the short term. He is 30 so while he isn't done, he is more of a band-aid at this point.

Either way he would come in at a discounted rate and should be able to play in the #2 spot, seems like he would be a good sign.

A cornerback who's decent at defending passes but not so great at picking them off?

Ah heck. We already have one of those. Why not make it a set?

Stop-gap CB, stop complaining better, than Munnerlyn getting torched by offenders.

If we pick him up for Cheap, I'll like the pick-up. Our division has turned into a passing division. Plus, our safeties are always in the right spots when passes are getting deflected. He doesn't have to catch any if he's so good at deflecting them.

I'm trying to figure out why this is a better option than Asante if he could be had for an expendable player?

I wouldn't mind the signing at all... Actually have said "on the record" here that I would be all in favor of it. BUT, if Asante is an option, I'd prefer him.

They're relatively the same age and IIRC Asante makes 5mil and some change this year. So you're telling me Carlos Rogers would sign for less than that? I doubt it. If both are gonna make around that 5 range, why wouldn't you go after Asante...

Or even Cromartie?

He wouldn't cost us an Arm and a Leg trying to trade for him. He's already a free agent.

Also, getting into a bidding war with the Jets over cromartie would be stupid.

Rogers would be a stop gap guy while hogan and hopefully future 1st round draft pick, Dre Kirkpatrick, will develop. Leaving us with a really good CB tandem for the future.
