I know this is the eighth page of this thread, but I am just finding this out here...right now...and I'm having trouble processing this odious and disappointing move. Up to now, we had all assumed correctly that they were going to go for a vet QB. Anderson was not in my top 5 choices (before the FA blitz hit). With what was left over after Kolb, McNabb, etc. started moving I was thinking Anderson was still out of the picture.

I realize the Chud has experience with DA and they did have some success in the AFC. I know that Anderson, at his best, has accomplished a few things. I just think he's peaked and really isn't that caliber of a player.

Now you have the REAL possibility of bringing in a vet who LOSES the starting job to a rookie sometime during the season. On the other hand, he has to probably come in this week and start working with the 1st team.

I'm just saying...they CAN'T be thinking that Derek Anderson is going to start 16 games and take us to the playoffs.

It seems like a "well three wins is still an improvement" kind of move. I was hoping for someone a little more stable.

I am very, very skeptical of this move. I don't like it!

you're wrong man. I lived in Cleveland and had season tickets.

Crennel was the coach in 2007 and 2008 when Anderson started/won the job (Quinn took over in mid 2008 when Anderson lost the job to him)... then he was fired; Chud also was out. In 2009 Brady Quinn 'beat out' Anderson with Mangini as the HC.... lost it back to Anderson in 2 and 1/2 quarters. Both guys were bad in different ways.

congrats on beng healthy enough to leave cleveland.

anyway...he got benched in early november of '08 for quinn who got benched at the end of the month because he had a broken finger (really because he sucked even worse) and anderson went back in and the appropriately got hurt as well.

point is, chud may have helped anderson in '07, but he sure wasn't able to help him in '08.

like you said, the flip flopping back and forth between the two came from that moron mangini the year after, but that wasn't what i was referring to, but regardless of system or coaching staff, he has sucked more often than not.

and i'm not even going to bring up his horrible personality which we are both in agreement about.

People chill the F out. Derek Anderson isn't here to start. You have a guy that started most games last season and another guy signed to a $22 million deal as the #1 pick in the draft. You honestly think they're going to want Anderson to start? If they're worried about Cam starting, they'll just have Clausen start.

For what it's worth, Anderson had the most (only maybe) success of his career under Chud. Maybe it's a good combo.

If it is true, does anyone one else find it funny how much pull our OC and DC have right now with bringing in guys they used to coach? I know it's common, but just because a coach has worked with a guy doesn't mean they should join the team especially when they're average or below average.

So many tears being shed because we finally picked up a vet with legit experience in the past when people have wanted that since last offseason.

dude had 1 season out of how many that he didn't flat out suck? if that is what you call being a legit starter, you're more of a victim of fox's low QB standards than you realize rubbing off on you.

sorry....never been a fan of bringing that putz in here and it isn't even about him sucking as a QB as much as it is his temperament and presence.
