Panthers signing Derek Anderson

Recommended Posts

Not that this has any relevance to Derek Anderson coming here, but, for all of you Matt Moore lovers:

Matt Moore: GP: 9 GS: 3 Comp: 63 Att: 111 Yds: 730 TDs: 3 Ints: 5 Rating: 67.0 Fumbles: 2 Lost: 0

Jimmy Clausen: GP: 13 GS: 10 Comp: 157 Att: 299 Yds: 1,558 TD: 3 Ints: 9 Rating: 58.4 Fum: 9 Lost: 2

Neither of them had an awesome rookie season, I promise you, and Jimmy outright sucked. And if you think that 7-6 as a starter in the NFL is success, then you are horribly mistaken. Being slightly above average is not a success, even for an undrafted rookie. Tony Romo was also an undrafted rookie, and he has three Pro Bowl appearances.

you are missing how "success" is being used here.

John Fox can take VERY average QBs and field competitive teams with them. That means he can find success with them. That doesn't mean those QBs are having Manning/Brady type success.

Derek Anderson is an hell of a upgrade Get rid of Clausen trade the son of a bitch

welll...umm.....little bit of an exaggeration and not because i thihnk clausen has talent.

and trade him? to who and for what?

we found that "hell of an upgrade" wandering around on the street waiting for someone to notice he was still alive. not sure we are going to get anything of value for someone that he was supposedly an upgrade over (and even that is debateable).

Ryan Kalil seems to disagree with you....

Haha, i was just coming on here to copy and paste that same thing, just read that article by Yas.

I never heard that his playbook was simple. I heard he played in an offense that has historically not translated well to the NFL (unless you get into a spread-like system such as Green bay)

You want big fat NFL players commenting on Newton:

"Would I take him No. 1? Absolutely not," New York Giants DE Justin Tuck said of Newton, while appearing as a panelist at the MIT Sports Analytics conference in early March. "If he comes into the league doing what he did in college, he won't be in this league for very long."

If he is ready week 1 it would be a complete shock to me. Maybe he is enough of a phenom to do it.
