Panthers signing Derek Anderson

Recommended Posts

Career NFL statistics as of Week 13, 2010

TD-INT 53-55

Passing yards 9,148

QB Rating 68.8

This is not success. Do not want, even as a backup.

I am not pimpin Anderson as a good QB....someone said he never saw success which is not true. With Chud he had a winning record and made a Pro Bowl is all......

and again, all of that points to him being better than Clausen as well.

No, all that points to him being a 7 year veteran that sucks versus a rookie who had a terrible coach.

Clausen is just starting out. Yes, he was terrible, but all he can do is improve. Anderson is a proven NFL failure.

I just can't believe people are defending this pickup so adamantly.

What about Bulger? What about Delhomme? If we had to get a Veteran, I'd much rather see either of them come in than this guy.

Lets call this for what it is...

Chud got a bud on his team for some cash. Suck or not, this has little to do with our improvement as a team as it is more of a good ole boy move. It has me very concerned that we're going to continue to bring in sub-par talent to share the pie with friends.

You do realize he had two rookie WR's and another that couldn't / wouldn't catch the ball?

So you picked only 2 states to base your 'historically bad" comment on...surprised you didn't mention win / loss category?

Overall stats for him, shows that is if far from "historically bad".

Call him bad all you like, which I find you of all people calling him bad *couch Dewayne Jarrett* funny but so be it.

Say what you like, the personell and the attitude the entire organization had last year had a lot to do with ALL OF THEM SUCKING; not just Clausen.

LOL, LaFell and Gettis showed tons of promise (and got into the endzone the small part of the season Clausen wasn't playing).

You are also ignoring the fact he had a Pro Bowl WR he refused to throw to....

The 2 stats I picked had to do w/ him as a passer......he historically sucked in that department as a rookie. You can't name any player in NFL history that can top that.

If you are gonna defend someone who SUCKS you might as well go the Jarrett angle b/c at least you can lean on the fact he didn't get the reps in a season to legitimately make that strong of a case against him (the unknown is always a good defense). But he sucked and that defense wore out.

Clausen just sucked. He didn't suck for a rookie....and he didn't suck for a QB on a lameduck team....he sucked so bad you can't deflect it elsewhere.

You would all be crying and bitching just as much if we brought Jake back.

Deal with it. He's signed. Not your decision and nothing you can do to change it. We will see down the road if it was a mistake or not.

Someone plz create 'deal with it' Anderson gif. kthx.

John Fox made winning QBs out of average QBs. Whether or not they were reject vets or undrafted rookies.....but you have to be able to do basics of his offense.

Clausen didn't suck b/c of Fox. Clausen imploded Fox's NFL offense for dummies offense. Which is a testament to how horrible Clausen was.

Anderson isn't a proven failure in Chud's offense. Clausen thus far has shown NOTHING in an offense that requires a lot of the same throws as Chud's.

Delhomme just knew the offense inside and outside......happens when you spend almost a decade in one.

Just because you know the offense does not mean your good at protections. If you watched the games you could clearly see him calling out protection schemes and telling the line what the defense was doing. Thats why the line sucked under Moore/Clausen because Delhomme was not there to call it out for them. After that adjustment though he was horrible with progression reads and thats why the INTs came in boat loads. His progression reads just go worse and worse as he became older.

Fox benching Moore was retarded......nothing to be butt hurt about.

Carolina needed to part ways w/ Moore. They need to part ways wtih every QB that was on the 2010 roster.

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
