Panthers signing Derek Anderson

Recommended Posts

Some of you guys wanted Delhomme to come in and teach Newton and Clausen how to throw interceptions. (Of course, no one has to teach Clausen that, he's already a pro in that category) At least Anderson have experience and success in the offense we are running. Other than Bulger, Mr. Anderson is probably the best vet QB out there, and he is still young for a vet.

Jake Delhomme was one of the best Pre-read QBs we ever had. His body might not do what his mind tells it anymore but he is still a good mind to have around. Derick Anderson had 1! 1! GOOD year as a QB and the rest was trash. Anderson will be here to compete with not help Newton.

for those thinking Anderson would start week 1..if there's EVER a time to start a rookie QB for his first game..it's against Arizona.

It is not that any of us think Anderson will or should start in Game #1. Just that it is not a foregone clonclusion on whether Rivera thinks Cam is ready.

Having a guy who knows the offense...on a team where every player is terying to learn the offense...and a rookie QB who ran a spread offense in college...during a season with virtually no offseason activities. In that scenario is is very plausible that Rivera will start DA. N

I have no idea whether it will happen....but it will be worth the money to watch every one of you idiots on here completely implode.

First off, Carolina played the West teams once, Arizona played them twice, twice vs. the Seahawks, twice vs. the Rams, twice vs. the 49ers, much easier than twice vs. Falcons, Bucs and Saints. Second, Clausen was a rookie, of course he's going to suck, Anderson has BEEN in the league for years, he should know how to win, but on a team with such great WR talent, he couldnt do much of anything with them. i would start Clausen over Anderson, Clausen may improve which improves his trade value, if he backs up Anderson, trade value lowers. Anderson doesnt have Delhomme or Moore in my book. Delhomme was consistant until his injury. Anderson had one good year, then got paid and never re-gained that form.

being a rookie had nothing to do w/ Clausen being historically bad (nor did Fox).

Anderson in Chud's system was pretty decent. Can't expect QBs to perform the same in all systems (AZ for example).

Anderson isn't a good QB but better than Clausen (in this offense).

Anderson was decent for one year, then after that went downhill, it's not the system, he just over or under throws passes, he's not on the same page with his WRs and being a rookie had ALOT to do with Clausen's issues. Why is it that Clausen has no excuse for how poor he was, but Anderson is getting a pass because "the offense didnt fit him." As i recall, he was a free agent and chose to sign with Arizona last year, if the offense didnt fit, why go there??? he has NO excuse for his poor play, he played in a poor division with good recievers in place and good coaching. Anderson just isnt good and i rather see Clausen start than Anderson, With Anderson, i cant see us beating Arizona.

And why would anyone here, and especiallyour coaching staff/FO care at all what grade some know nothing and emotional fan gives their work.

Just in case you could not figure it out.....they won't.

And why would any dumbass assume I take my opinion in a post on this forum that seriously?

Delhomme just knew the offense inside and outside......happens when you spend almost a decade in one.

Back-Up QB

He'll start. Even if Cam is amazing in practice, they won't risk throwing him out there in day one. I say by week 3, he's in, unless Derek is great. We don't fix what isn't broken.

Fact is, Derek understands this new offense we have here and with a shorten preseason and practice time, it's a really SMART move!

IF Anderson starts i cant see him being great, in fact, i think he would lose his job early. i cant see him beating Arizona in week one.
