Panthers signing Derek Anderson

Recommended Posts

Some of you guys wanted Delhomme to come in and teach Newton and Clausen how to throw interceptions. (Of course, no one has to teach Clausen that, he's already a pro in that category) At least Anderson have experience and success in the offense we are running. Other than Bulger, Mr. Anderson is probably the best vet QB out there, and he is still young for a vet.

Signing a headcase who had a meltdown on live TV when a reporter asked him a valid question is the last guy we need to bring in here

Rivera doesn't strike me as a coach who would allow something like that to happen. Seems like a guy who would put a boot in his arse if need be.

Everyone srs needs to calm the fug down. We sign a guy who is familiar with our Offensive system. Doesnt mean he will be the starting QB.

please stop peeing your pants.

Sorry boo... this is a little more alarming than that....

Derek Anderson is a bad QB. He has a bad history. He's not going to come in here and teach our young guys the right things to have success in this league. He's going to teach them the wrong things.

And heaven forbid he actually takes the field (starting or not).

Right now, I want to say to Hurney:

God damnit dude... Mare, Anderson... you just can't get through free agency without fuging something up.

:banghead:

I don't think it's fair to apply the "head case" label to a guy because he had one meltdown.

have you seen him play? he is a bottom 5 QB in the NFL. he rockets balls to TE's like 2 yards away from him, and puts receivers in the air going over the middle making them vulnerable to get smacked by safeties. he is BAD.

why can't Chud help Cam/Jimmy with the offense? why do we need to bring in a guy who will essentially play the role as an assistant coach?

don't see any problem with it. if he comes in and starts for us, yes it might be a problem. as for now, looks like he is just coming in as someone who is familiar with chuds offensive system from playing under him with the Browns.

I think maybe we should all give it a little while before we start threatening to cut off Hurney's balls. We don't know anything yet.

One bad move in all these good moves of FA and you people bring out the pitchforks.

Pretty big assumption... Mike Shula was a disaster as an NFL QB and he's our QB coach.

We've just hired DA as an assistant QB coach.

Not bringing out the pitchforks... just tired of bonehead moves from our GM.

Before this I was going to give our Free Agency moves a "B+" to an "A"

Now, it's a solid "B" to "B-". If we don't get a decent CB before the regular season starts, it will be a "C+" to "B-".

I personally would be surprised if Anderson doesn't start week 1. The guy knows the offense, he is the only one out there that does, and looking at Cleveland's stats that year (2007) guess who led them in receiving Kellen Winslow Jr. (ie. Olsen.) I would think he would get a chance to hold down the fort while Cam learns the offense, eventually bowing out to Cam as the year fades away. If he plays well, then he probably stays in the starting job, and perhaps we could trade him to the Dolphins or someone next year for a second round pick or something (see Kolb - Eagles.)
