Panthers signing Derek Anderson

Cam may indeed give us the best chance to win as a starter. I expect there to be plenty of blown plays with this new offense and shortened offseason. Plays will have to be made with the QB's legs from time to time.

Having Cam in will force a LB spy and free up a TE.

yep.

Cam is the best option for if things breakdown do to a new offense being installed w/ little time.

Doubtful. The report is Cam has to learn a completely new system right and is not anywhere near NFL ready.

For Cam to beat out DA would mean either he is a prodigy or DA sucks.

DA is a serviceable QB without the raw talent of Cam but with NFL experience.

Day 1 DA will surely be the best option even if we aren't winning games.

Rivera Interview

On if it looks like things have started to click a little bit more for Newton: I think so. I think he exceeded our expectations. You never really know what you're going to get. But the thing I've got to take my hat off to is everything I've heard is that his work ethic this offseason, Jimmy's work ethic this offseason has paid dividends for us so far as a football team. They've both come in and done a great job. I'm excited about them. I'm excited for our guys.

Actually, the abridged version of "Football for Dummies" does not really constitute a book. But hey, whatever you think works for you.

PLEASE serously WATCH Anderson AFTER his pro bowl years and tell me what is so special about him that he DESERVES to start!!! he couldnt even have good enough throws to make Fitzgerald happy, imagine him and Smith. it wont work. Anderson is what he is, a 3rd string QB who just knows the offense.

but also, Cam might not be "ready" to start but at the same time gives us a better chance to win than Clausen or DA.

i am not sure if Cam is ready to start or not, but if he's not ready, i think Clausen gives us a better chance to win then Anderson whose already proven that he cant play. Clausen may have something to prove.

Head coach saying "Started to click a little" doesn't mean much.

But you have seriosuly not read anything about why Cam Newton isn't ready for the NFL?

There are tons of articles. You can use google. Some about his college system, some about his completely erractic workouts.

Newton was drafted on pure athletic potential. Accuracy is what makes an NFL QB long term and he may not have it. You can run around all you want but unless you have a Vick arm you may stink.

Which means he may be a bust in the NFL. This was an extremely risky pick by the panthers.

It's no surprise that our fans have anointed him week 1 starter when he may not be ready week 1 2012

I love how the coaches opinion pales to old articles that have been debunked time and time again. Also the question posed to Rivera was "click a little". Rivera's quote was that Cam has "exceeded expectations"

Thanks for the wisdom EeyorePanther

of course you can google articles saying Cam isn't ready.....those articles also aren't written by people that have followed his training down in FL or have any idea what is going on in Carolina.

Cam won't be ready week 1......but Cam most likely will be our best option week 1.

All picks are risky.

Yeah...Newton completed 66% of his passes last year. Vick completed 54% his senior year.
