This move is 100% about bringing in someone that A) knows the system and B) can help Cam learn during the season. If Anderson comes in, then he will know what his role will be. The only way he makes it on the field is if Cam and Jimmy both suck it up worse than Jake v. Arizona.

If he's not willing to accept this role when he meets with the team tomorrow, then he won't be signed.

Exactly, there is nothing wrong with this signing. If he beats out our boys, then that is only even more of a telling sign of how little they're developing.

He provides excellent competition.

The negative aspect of it is definitely Anderson not being a guy that can take a young Qb under his wing, but like others have said, Chud knows him and feels comfortable with him. Rivera said no one is given anything, so the best guy will start and if it is Anderson, if he can get anywhere near 2007 form with 3,787 yards and 29 TD's with more weapons than he had in Cleveland...that'll be a pretty good stop gap.

So many tears being shed because we finally picked up a vet with legit experience in the past when people have wanted that since last offseason.

I think Cam Huggers are mad because they feel DA will have a legitamate shot at beating Cam out to start week 1. They don't mind Jimmy, Jake, and Bulger because they feel Cam can easily beat those guys out.

All the huggers should have confidence Cam will easily beat the competition out (Listening to the way they talk about Cam all ready).

At the end of the day he is being brought in to be a backup. If he's our #3, he's better than most #3's in the League.

Welcome to Carolina 3rd string Anderson, i just cant see them giving him the job and if they do, it's a HUGE mistake. Anderson had a great WR and offense in Arizona and they stunk, Anderson though is good for something and that's teaching the young QBs the offense that he knows. in my book, Clausen likely and should start and if he's not looking good, give the keys to Cam.

He will be here. He will start. The organization learned a lot about the perils of starting a QB right out of the gate last season with Clausen. Regardless of who will be the better QB down the road, there exist ZERO doubt in my mind that Anderson will be leading this team out on opening day. How long he keeps the job will be the result of two things. 1. How well he does, obviously. 2. How quickly Cam is able to pick up the offense.

It is so weird how people are so willing to throw Cam directly into the fire here when doing so may stunt his development or give all the birds around the league enough ammo to chirp him. This is the most unique offseason in NFL history in regards to rookies and veterans alike not being given enough time to really immerse themselves in the professional life. We would be doing Cam a HUGE disservice to expect results on Day 1 of the season.

I think on opening day, DA would give us a better chance to win than Cam considering his knowledge of the offense and the lack of pressure DA will have and the options available to him.

Great signing..... even if DA starting will piss a lot of people off to start with.

dont think it's a big move, but if he's signed, then it's a good move IF he's 3rd string. if not, then i question it because Anderson just isnt good, he's been given chance after chance, he's only good for teaching Newton and Clausen about the offense and being the vet.
