Anyone see Steve Reed's article about TC?

You watch... the injuries are going to go through the roof this year because guys won't be used to the contact when the games start.

Well the contact in training camp brought a lot of injuries with it. I think more then anything we are going to see players playing a couple years longer then they would have..most hate going through training camp.

One could argue that injuries go way down because the total hits they take will be much lower.:cheers2:

I think short term we may see more injuries as guys bodies and coaching staffs are forced to adjust to the new rules of this "new" NFL. After an off-season of seeing what does and does not work next year the injuries will probably decline.

Long term we'll probably get at chance to see some of our favorite players play longer and guys will probably also live longer and more healthy lives. It's certainly not your fathers NFL but lets just see it all play out before condemning it to quickly.

as much as i like the "good old days" of brutal football, i don't think the rule changes are going to effect much except that it will lengthen the careers of these guys.

people are worried about how the lack of work in the offseason this year is going to lead to more injuries, but i think the opposite will happen. players were able to let their bodies heal so they will go in healthier and be more durable through the season.

it will take a little bit for them to get their muscles used to the stress, but it will happen. they will go into the season fresher, have less mileage on them, and by the end of the season will have more football in them.

we fans may look back on football 10 years or so ago (or longer) and say that those were the good old days, but i doubt that players will look at it like that when they see that they were making things unnecessarily hard for themselves. the good old days are hardly ever as good as we make them out to be.

btw....it's easy for us to criticize them for wanting to take less of a beating on themselves, but it's not our bodies that is taking the beating.

if they want to protect themselves in the long term and make it so that they can play the game longer, more power to them, esp. if they can still play good ball.

My guess is that we will see lots more injuries around the league during the season, not only with the "soft" training camps now, but with the lockout taking away any conditioning other than what the players may or may not have done on their own.

Will be an interesting season for sure.

I lost a lot of respect for Reed in that article. Stop whining like you're some bitch and give us some real fuging information. It will mean less injuries so shut your mouth. Football games are not won by smashing heads in practice.

My how times have changed? Yea, would you like to go back to the times where half the players in the league had concussions but didn't receive treatment? Now those guys are mentally disabled for the rest of their lives. Why don't you go talk to them about hitting in practice sir.

You're a writer. There is no danger in writing. You get payed to voice your opinion. You can work as a writer until you're 80. So don't tell players who are putting their bodies at risk that they have it easy.

What a piece of sh*t article.
