6-10 you guys are homers. Nothing against our talent, we will have had next to no time to get use to the new offensive and defensive schemes and learn them. there will be growing pains and i'm being generous with the wins as it is.

I remember CJ Wilson doing an interview on WFNZ his rookie season and he was asked what record he'd predict for the team. He said 16-0, and something to the effect of we don't practice to go 13-3.

As fans it's unrealistic to go 16-0 but we sure hope we win every game.

1 Sep 11 CAR @ ARI Win - Kevin Kolb is overrated and we beat them last year with a joke of a coach and scheme.

2 Sep 18 GB @ CAR Loss - Just too good of a team. Maybe if it was later in the year when we played them I could even consider a close score, but they'll be fluid in their system while we will still be ironing some things out.

3 Sep 25 JAC @ CAR Win - This team reminds me of us but with half the talent. Gabbert just has no weapons at his disposal, and MJD can only do so much.

4 Oct 02 CAR @ CHI Win - First big upset of the season, Cam will have a field day on the ground, breaking the ankles of the Bears 45 year old average age linebackers, while they are all focused on Olsen. Pep, of course, will disappear.

5 Oct 09 NO @ CAR Loss - See Green Bay game description.

6 Oct 16 CAR @ ATL Loss - We won't yet be able to match their 45 points per game, and they have just too many deep threats for us considering we have Gamble and then a CB2 by committee.

7 Oct 23 WAS @ CAR Win - This team is an absolute disaster in my mind, and should be a fairly convincing victory at home.

8 Oct 30 MIN @ CAR Win - McNabb will get destroyed by Charles Johnson, and Adrian Peterson won't be able to carry the team with no Sidney Rice. On the defense, Triple Trouble will tear apart an aging Williams Wall and Jared Allen minus Ray Edwards.

9 Bye

10 Nov 13 TEN @ CAR Win - Much like the Jacksonville game, I think this is a team that has lost more pieces than they've added this offseason. Our LB's are too fast for CJ2K to completely destroy us, plus it's after a bye and our boys will be well-rested.

11 Nov 20 CAR @ DET Win - Much improved with Suh and Fairly, but Matt Stanford is a fragile China Doll and will get knocked out of the game for an extended period, if he's even still playing this deep into the season. If we were an all running foxball team still, this would be a tough ticket, but we've got weapons now.

12 Nov 27 CAR @ IND Loss - Peyton Manning is just too good and has too many weapons for us to stop, and our O-line will have many false starts inside the dome that will prove costly.

13 Dec 04 CAR @ TB Loss - Our teams are comparable if Cam even remotely understands a defense by this point, so I'll give TB the win at their house.

14 Dec 11 ATL @ CAR Loss - See previous comments against ATL.

15 Dec 18 CAR @ HOU Win - The team plays pretty well at Reliant. Arian Foster will cause problems, but the the double team of Andre Johnson will allow us to win in a close game.

16 Dec 24 TB @ CAR Win - See previous comments. We'll split the season series with them.

17 Jan 01 CAR @ NO Loss - Rivera will have a chance to make the playoffs in his very first year, but will miss out with a heartbreaking loss at New Orleans. Game is close, but a chance to tie it late with a 40+ yard field goal by Mare is missed wide, and the Huddle crashes.

9-7

i'll agree with this all the way down.

1 Sep 11 CAR @ ARI W

2 Sep 18 GB @ CAR L

3 Sep 25 JAC @ CAR W

4 Oct 02 CAR @ CHI W

5 Oct 09 NO @ CAR L

6 Oct 16 CAR @ ATL L

7 Oct 23 WAS @ CAR W

8 Oct 30 MIN @ CAR W

9 Bye

10 Nov 13 TEN @ CAR W

11 Nov 20 CAR @ DET WASH

12 Nov 27 CAR @ IND L

13 Dec 04 CAR @ TB L

14 Dec 11 ATL @ CAR L

15 Dec 18 CAR @ HOU L

16 Dec 24 TB @ CAR W

17 Jan 01 CAR @ NO W

So I guess some where in the 8-8 area. With LUCK maybe 9-7. Actually will be extremely happy if we are just competitive. Which is a lie, because if we are competitive, I will start wanting wins where there not really expected.

Dang this predicting stuff is hard. And GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
