Cam has the acceleration and the long strides that get him down the field so fast, but as far as quickness, TRD is right Vick is quicker than Newton.

Panthers can never utilize Cam like Vick. Vick's speed and quickness is on a whole different level.

There should definitely not be option plays designed for Cam.

Yeah, Cam won't last long in the offense running the ball, let alone running the option.

I'm sure people in the stands were drooling when they saw Cam juke a DE running the option this morning... but guess what every team in the NFL is going to expect it and he's going to end up getting hurt.

I personally think that Rivera is simply setting Cam up with some very easy wins during camp to get the guys following him so he can be named the starter as soon as possible. The fans want it and the franchise wants it. All he can do is screw it up, and I'm not sure even that is possible with the money they are paying him.

Quicker and faster are two different things.

Vick also got clocked running a 4.2 at one point I believe and Cam ran roughly a 4.6 right?

His only real major injury (broken leg) happened in the pocket though. And you can't tell me that being about 4" taller and 40lbs heavier doesn't make a difference for Cam.

Again though, all I'm saying is that the option has been done in the NFL with some limited success. Atlanta tried to make it a big part of their offense that year though, and that will never work. It may be worth it for the Panthers to keep in in their pocket as an option though.
