Panthers claim LB Kelvin Smith off waivers

Didn't see another thread on this, so here goes the tweet:

MikeReiss Mike Reiss

Lot of moving parts. RT: @RavensInsider: Panthers awarded LB Kelvin Smith off waivers from Cowboys. Pats also put in a claim, per a source.

I don't know the guy. Do we need another LB?

In a related note, I don't like this Mike Reiss guy. I've been reading a lot of his tweets (from the ESPN tweet tracker) since FA opened up and he's annoying.

Yeah, this makes sense. Why keep linebacker: Nic Harris who gave everything he had to be on this team, and actually contributed when we can sign linebacker: Kelvin Smith, who has one career tackle.

Make's sense...

At least out of all the linebackers we have; Jon Beason, Thomas Davis, James Anderson, Dan Connor, Omar Gaither, Jordan Senn, Jason Williams, and Lawrence Wilson can all contribute.

On the other hand; Kelvin Smith, Sean Ware, and Thomas Williams are garbage.

I think they may want to trade Connor. No way with the money we're spending can we afford to keep him next year. He wants to start sooner than later and it won't be here. If Davis goes down we aren't going to move Beason over again.

Connor has little value to us and a lot of value to another NFL team. We should trade him if that's what best.

    • Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.  I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal. I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.
    • Move on from what?   Let me guess we gatekeeping on who we can and can't appreciate?   Next time I will just make a Kuechly appreciation thread lmao
