How Cam turns out will show how good this Coaching Staff is

I have made no bones about it, I hate the pick. 99.9% of the time dual threat QB's out of college do not make it in the NFL. Steve young was not a dual threat, he even got pissed last year when talking about newton. He said he was a passer first and foremost and the fact remains the NFL will NEVER change to the point pure passing isnt what a QB has to do.

Make 3-5-7 step drops, read the defense, deliver the ball on time and on target, and be a leader. That will always be THE thing an NFL QB has to do. Can Cam do it...I don't know. Great athlete, no question, pretty strong arm so physically he is there, but can he make the change? His interview with Gruden really concerned me as for as his football mind goes.

All that said, he is a Panther now. I support the team first and foremost. I do not have to support individual players esp if they are hurting the team, that is just how it is, BUT I am giving Cam a clean slate and getting behind the kid. I am hoping and praying Chud can work some Andy Reid Mojo and we end up with a really good QB that will get us where we want to go. I do feel JR and Rivera have the plan to build a good team around him which is paramount.

I know I will get ripped for this thread but oh well. I will finish with, I feel this team can make the playoffs this year. I see 9-7 as a real possibility which might get us a wildcard. If not then from last year to 9-7 is HUGE and puts us one more off-season from taking the fuging division title back that is rightfully ours!! So here is to a good season!

Quick reality check; would you be more optimistic if the pick had been Dareus, and we were in camp with Bulger or Volek? Or maybe without Dareus, but with Gabbert at QB?

It seems that most here want a superior athlete regardless of how well they can make decisions out on the field. Cam is by all accounts a freak athlete. So, most have gotten their wish. (I mean the wish after thier real wish went back to Stanford)

True if it wasnt for Luck going back everybody on this board will be creaming on there selfs every 5 minutes. I dont care who is at QB especially if you are rookie there is going to be growing pains. And its how they get through does pains, tells you if they have what it takes to to be a good QB in this league. Look at Josh Freeman his first year he was everything but stellar but he knew he had to get better and his second year he went it hard. Guys just be patient im telling if you be patient you will be pleased in the long run I hope.

You might be wrong about why people like Cam. In my case, his ability to stay cool under pressure and his leadership qualities are at least as important as his running ability, for example.

If you are going to post a new thread how about telling us something new instead of rehashing the same old thing over and over or stating the obvious.

There has never been a quarterback in the NFl with the physical talent of Newton coupled with the hard work ethic and desire to be the best. The closest comparison may be Josh Freeman except by his own admission Freeman says that Newton is a lot faster. After 2 seasons that seems to be working out fine.

Obviously you must have a lot of faith in our coaching staff to believe we will be a 9-7 team this year. I would like to agree with that but although I am more optimistic about our QB than you are, I don't see such a drastic turnaround.

I do agree that Newton's progress will say alot about Shula's and Chud's coaching abilities but that could go for all rookie quarterbacks every year as well as Newton's desire to be great. One quick way to tell is to see if he is his word- first in and last out every day.

As for getting behind Newton, if that is the case,go back and delete your first 2 paragraphs and take out all the negatives and just start with (Although I didn't agree with the pick, I am now going to support him} and leave out all the other stuff. Otherwise you post seems a little schizophrenic from begining to end.

how can you doubt our QB and think we're going 9-7?

We made the superbowl with a castoff in Delhomme. I saw a guy that couldn't even make the practice squad and was bagging groceries come back and win a superbowl and become one of the best passers in NFL History in Warner? I saw trent fuging dilfer....TRENT fuging DILFER, win a superbowl. Dude if that last one dosen't show that a great TEAM with an average QB can win one then nothing does :D

search for posts before the draft...all has been said. Cam was worth it, we just signed him for 20 million 4 years lol. That's worth it to find out for me. Because 1 we haev no one with any real potential at being elite at QB and 2. if he sucks so what we get Luck next year. But I'd rather give him props until he fails me rather than knock on the guy. The front office is surrounding him with pieces for success and support and believing in Cam from the fans will surely help him as well.

First off I post what the fug I want. Don't like it, don't read it don't' reply. Second don't tell me what I am going to post or what I should delete or whatever, not your call.

As for as physical talent, who gives a poo? Its the talent between the ears that will decide if the kid makes it or not.

And yeah I do have the faith in the coaching staff to make us 9-7. I also have had faith in JR and his plan which is now coming to fruition.

A lot of folks are citing the Gruden interview. Let's look at "Big Ben" as a rookie. Ben benefitted from a great staff and his natural ability, not because he has a PhD in rocket surgery, or is a Mensa member. At this point I'm happy as hell to have Cam +Coach Ron's staff vs. what we've had for the last couple of years.

So i was trying to give you some feedback so you don't come off as convoluted and totally off the wall. Obviously you didn't appreciate it and want to go on a middle school rant. So be it. How about taking your own advice and if you don't want people telling you what to say, give others the same courtesy. Is is always hilarious to me to see posts like yours where you rant about people telling you what to post and then within 2 sentences you tell them what to post or not to do. Once again another example of convoluted and hypocritical posting.

Except that Kurt Warner was never just an average qb. And his last days in Arizona proved it big time.

    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
