We Could go to the playoffs

Lol im crying. I'm just saying, Jake has a good thing going for being a mentor. He helped McCoy out a whole lot, McCoy even said it in multiple interviews. I wasn't trying to say for him to start. It's either gonna be Clausen or Newton day 1, no one else.

side note: you do know you have "Pike bandwagon" under your name, right? just saying.

Well guys, Jake is still on the market.

I don't believe Jake is the answer, he hasn't proved to be a stable QB in the past couple years. Persuading the Bengals to do a cheap -- productive for their team -- trade for Carson Palmer would be ideal in my mind, although I don't see that happening. We could bring in Burgler for a second/third string QB, don't know many other veteran QB's out there. :\

Let's Newton and Clausen get injured, would you trust the game in Jake's hands? I don't think that I could given his past performances.

You know Carson Palmer is retiring, right?

That's a big what if situation.

That post was about as stupid as your avatar, Kermit. The jury is still out on Bradford and Newton, you're talking as if they're both 10 years into their careers.

I'm not opposed to the idea of us signing a veteran quarterback to provide knowledge/guidance for Cam, I was simply saying standing on the sidelines watching said veteran isn't going to make Cam a better quarterback. Playing the game will.

Using your rationale, is sitting watching someone play checkers going to make you a better checkers player, versus actually experiencing the game, the ins the outs, what to do in given scenarios. A juvenile analogy, I know, but I'm trying to stoop to your level so that you might understand.

Go watch another muppets episode, football clearly is above your head.

It seems that he is, however that is because he hasn't been released of his contract or he hasn't been traded away.

That's a big what if situation.

Getting Palmer? Yes, I know, I doubt it would happen. However getting a veteran QB -- that can play decently if needed -- is needed in my eyes.

You don't draft a quarterback #1 overall, only to go out and grab a bandaid veteran. Rivers and Rodgers sat because the were behind Brees and Favre respectively... Do we have a Brees or Favre on our roster?? Is it possible for us to land a quarterback of that caliber at this point in the season? No.

Might aswell start Cam and see what we have to work with. If you don't have enough faith in a guy you selected #1 overall, to show you that the pick was justifiable in the entirety of a season, then you shouldn't have picked him to begin with. End of story.

Cam starts week 1. The only chance he doesn't is because the shortened offseason and CBA bullpoo. And if thats the case, I shudder thinking of who will. Please no more clausen, guy is a joke.

Why does it have to be playoffs or bust right now. We are the 2nd youngest team in the league, we have 2 1 yr QBs and 1 rookie QB, we have new coaches and new playbooks, we have the toughest strength of schedule, and are in arguably the toughest division in the league.

We should be happy if we improve our record (which I'm sure we will.)

I would love to see this team make the playoffs, but I'm excited just based on the buzz around the team. It's more upbeat, positive and our players WANT to play here even though we sucked last year. Hell even JR seems to have a different shine to him.

We won't make the playoffs but we are headed in the right direction and our future looks very bright

I personally didn't have Newton as my #1, but hokay. I agree with starting Cam, although having a veteran on the team would help Cam's growth as a player in my eyes. My ideal QB transaction would be in situations like Favre/Rodgers, I just hope that in the future we go from Cam teaching a younger kid before he retires, and that the younger kid turns into a great player just as I'm sure Cam will.

exactly, I;d be happy with 5 or 6 wins this year so long as Cam proves he can be a somewhat competent quarterback. Something Clausen came no where near accomplishing last year.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised If we win more than that, provided Cam does show something.
