Catman's 7/30 training camp practice observations

Oh yeah, was Pilares out there? I know there was a question about his MCL or something around combine time...

Pilares looked very quick to me, on one particular play he ran a slant route and totally left the man covering him in the dust.

Having said that, if Armanti continues to perform the way he did today I have no doubt that he will see some major playing time this year.

I will also say that JStew looked much more quick than I'm used to seeing... when he practiced at all in the past, it always seemed to me that he was holding back. I know Gross said on the radio that other day that Stew seemed to be running better than ever and I could see what he mean, not used to seeing Stew run with that much quickness.

I think because of the lockout, his foot and ankle are completely healthy since before he was in college.

Thanks CatMan!

I' hoping we're able to hold onto both Armanti and Pilares on the active roster... From everything I've seen/heard about Pilares, I think he has potential to be a lot like Smitty.

Not much to tell, there was a large crowd there tonight but I had no trouble parking, etc... everything seemed to be very well organized.

Only thing I was say is bring a seat pad for yourself just in case they hold practice in the stadium again, those aluminum bleachers are not very forgiving...

I think today's practice was the only one that's going to be held in the stadium, right? I hope. The stadium felt so impersonal, where the practice field is very close to the players.

Not sure, but I would suspect you are right - I think it was held in the stadium since it was the opening practice and they had all the other festivities going on.

I liked having it in the stadium because everything was more compressed then when they are spread out across the practice fields, but I agree that it has less of a personal feel.

Catman I can not thank you enough for such a fantastic post. This is why I love the huddle. Hope you had a great time, sounds like it was a very promising practice

Thanks brother, I had a great time and I take mental notes as I'm sitting there so I can come back here and share what I saw with the folks that couldn't attend because I enjoy being able to do that.

Good observation, I would agree with most points.

I felt like Jimmy looked a little better than Cam did, which isn't saying much. Both QB's made very nice throws when no one was in front of them. As soon as they had a line in front of them and some D they went to hell. Jimmy completed more passes but again that isn't saying much as I believe the total of completed passes at that point, between the two of them was about 7...most if not all within 10 yards.

I am hoping you can't base much from the first practice so I'll leave it at that.

100% agree about the velocity, Cam can zip it

Edwards has made HUGE improvements from last season, at least basing it off of this first practice.
