Be careful how you speak of Mr. Jones. I had a simlar post to yours in another thread and found he has many fans around here. I still believe we've had such bad returners in the past we now accept avg. and love it.

Well, it isn't really debatable that before Jones we had horrific returners and ST. It also isn't debatable that Jones is average and that Miller is a much better returner than Jones. Regardless of how many bandwagon Jones fans who were impressed he actually look like he returned a kick before (unlike others prior) yet couldn't beat a kicker or punter......they can't argue Miller isn't an upgrade at returner.

with what appears to be another year of average defense....we need the homerun hitter on ST.

in reality Jones is average at best....he just had the advantage of stepping in after some of the worst returners/ST units the league has seen the past few seasons. .

Ummm NO

In the regulars season's 256 total games, there were 2114 kick-offs. Total return yardage for all combined was 48249 yards. That comes out to a 22.8 yard/return average. Mark averaged 24.0 yards/return.

For punts, there were 1091 total punts returned for 10092 yards or a 9.25 yard /return average. Mark's average was 11.4 yards/return.

In both cases, Jones is better than average.

Re-sign Jones, leave Miller where ever he is. End of discussion , NEXT

Thanks for stating the hard facts here. No one ever said Jones has blazing speed. He does have good vision for blockers and the holes the are creating.

And I thought this was about getting a CB? Like dude said earlier Miller doesn't play corner.

Jones is average. Jones also isn't a threat which was proven last year when he can't even get past a kicker with numerous chances. Miller would be a BIG improvement in the return game and give us a homerun hitter. We had good blocking for a change last year and w/ a good returner we could make noise on ST.....Jones simply isn't capable of being a threat and his numbers prove he is average not otherwise.

Um, dude was wrong....Miller does play corner. He didn't play corner last year for Oakland and just did their returns (which he did take a couple to the house). So, b/c he didn't take one of the two starting positions in Oakland he doesn't play corner? Oakland may suck but they have one of the better secondaries in the league not to mention THE best CB in the NFL. Miller played corner in NY before going to Oakland last year - he suffered an injury his 3rd year which was his last.

Jones may not be a "Homerun Hitter", but he was very good and very consistent last year. He had great vision and did not make mistakes. He consistently put our offense in a good position.

Given the issues we had over the previous few seasons in the return game, I would not let Jones go.

but that is what being worst in the league does.....it makes us think average and not sucking = good returner. I think the odds are decent our defense will be no better than last year. Our offense needs some help and can't carry our team 2 years straight therefore we need our special teams to be a threat......and w/ Jones it will be average. Miller isn't a possible better option, he is a proven and much better returner than Jones.

Again I ask...Are you his agent? Or just in love with him? :D

um, he is a cheap avalaible option that can improve us? May I ask? Who do you think should return kicks? Mr. Average Jones or put it in the hands of another unproven returner like the past few seasons and have us go back to being painful to watch (Robinson, or maybe next year it can be Carter)?

He played local college ball and could be a cheap asset to us.....what is wrong w/ me posting that? I mean, he is a badmammajamma at returns.
