anyway...shouldn't be a surprise. dude failed to produce last year. was time to move on.

fwiw, i remember following that fight that smitty and lucas got into the team had a pow wow (that i found out i wasn't supposed to be listening in on until i was asked to leave :o) and brayton (who had just come from a real dysfunctional team) was telling the guys to not let that moment define who they were and to let it go as well as any animosity that was being felt towards smitty.

i'm thinking the guys needed to hear that. i think he was good for the team but, like with quite a few others, it's time to move on.
