Can anyone confirm, there is NO cap floor!

Yeah, but I also just saw a tweet from Andrew Brandt that said the salary floor thing isn't calculated until the end of the season, or something like that... Don't quote me on it. But, he said it wasn't mandatory at the start of the season, just the end.

Maybe that's why some teams are dragging their feet? Regardless, that seems ridiculous b/c if a team like the Bengals has about 49 mil in cap space now and have to spend 99% of the cap... How are they going to find 49 mil worth of investments in scrubs from now until the end of the season?

I found out yesterday that the floor is not based on the same calculation they use for the cap. The floor is based on actual $$$ spent.

So Cincy can give a guy a $10 million signing bonus and that counts as cash spent. So in calculation of the floor they will be creadited for that 10 million, but for the cap assumming its a 5 year deal, it would only count 2 mil against the cap.

So a team can be well below the salary cap, but spend enough to reach the floor. This is probably why TB signed the punter, and I think they gave him a decent signing bonus
