Panthers Defense Needs An Answer...

Ward just took advantage of already beaten down defenses...nothing more than a stud backup who had a beeeeaaaast in front of him...Earnest Graham is no Brandon Jacobs...

I'll take two starters (Dwill/Stew) over 2 back ups (Ward/Graham)...thank you.

Man, thank god that guy Morris isn't OUR coach...:smilielol5:

As far as I'm concerned, most of the deals we have read about with any team has been overpaid with the exception of ours with Ward. He wanted 6 years 35 mil at the start of free agency. We gave him 17 mil 4 years. We passed on the rediculous Haynesworth deal, thank God.

that doesn't change the fact they gave 24 million to michael clayton, a guy who doesn't belong on any field.

they were actually offering haynesworth more than washington and he turned them down.

it seems the bucs are in full "move to LA" mode at this point.

and then they go out and grab the 1 player that tore us up in 2008......it doesn't work like that...I have a feeling that new douche of a coach will find that out soon enough...Bucs....6-10 next year?

im really not in the mood to explain how statistics work

if you need help then i suggest nfl.com/kids

Exactly what I thought you'd say. As usual, you don't know what the hell you're talking about, and are too lazy or too stupid to form a decent response. At least in your laziness you spared us all your regurgitation of statistics and graphs that you don't even properly understand. Thanks Fiz!

Bucs got jacked - Ward was effective as a "change of pace" guy after Jacobs would wear defenses down. Ward was also running behind the 2nd best offensive line in the NFL (ours being the 1st).

With out "Earth" and "Wind", "Fire" is gonna get put out.

Ward wasn't a good pickup for the Bucs. A (now) healthy Cadillac is just as good, and Graham is a monster. But what is missing is your QB. Eli could keep us from stuffing the box.

Whoever is the QB wont scare our DB's. We stuff the box and Bucs won't run on us.

Turner did horrible the first game and great the other against us....which matched Ryan's amazing growth in just one season...as we had to respect the passing game they were able to get yards on the ground.

Since we also stopped LT and AP I am so not worried about anything the Bucs can do rushing wise.

yawn.

quantitative stats are inherently a flawed metric to look at anything. you would never say a pitcher is better because he has more strikeouts or more wins without putting it into the context of a team. having more of something doesn't make you automatically better. for example, you've made at least two posts in this thread that i've seen. you're still as shitty as when you started.

in football terms, unlike basketball or baseball, qualitative stats are much harder to judge performance with. For example, Jerious Norwood averaged more ypc than did Michael Turner. No one that watches that team would then say, "Norwood deserves more carries." Norwood would be dead, most likely.

in regards to Michael Turner, here are his regular season stats. Normally I'd just leave the argument at this, but I doubt you'd be able to parse the information and reach the conclusion I'm leading you by the bit to, like a stupid mule being pulled to the water that sustains his worthless life.

there was no running back in the nfl last year that feasted off shitty defenses more than michael turner. add his gaudy statistics against the likes of detroit, oakland, st louis, and TB that had just given up a thousand yards to double trouble to his like third highest running back carries total in nfl history, and you'll be able to see why his numbers are incredibly misleading, and why, unlike say DeAngelo Williams, his ypc can't really be trusted.

There's more with Michael Turner than just that easily-deduced-for-anyone- but-you conclusion, like that he doesn't get first downs on third, he can't catch, he can't block, other things that the layfan (once again in reference to you) doesn't notice or understand, because they can't see it neatly demonstrated on their new copy of Madden.

spare me the irrelevant comparison that you've been trying to think of while reading this post to disprove my position. i've already invested more time talking to you than you deserve, and probably won't open this thread again.

this is wrong on all counts.

cadillac is going to start the season on the PUP list

graham is a fullback masquerading as a running back.

the panthers gave absolutely no respect whatsoever to the wide receivers at the giants game.

You sir are a moron. The fact that Turner had 376 carries with the box being stacked heavily against him most of the time and still maintained a 4.5 average was GREAT. He also took quite alot of load off Matt Ryan which REALLY helped him develop, not to mention how questionable there O line was coming into the season and how great they looked coming out of it.

Comparing his game logs sure he beat up on alot of bad teams...but that is EXPECTED. Even look at Deangelo Williams the teams that he ran for 4.5ypc and over were...Chargers, Chiefs, Cards, Raiders, Lions, Falcons, Bucs, Broncos, Giants and Saints. Give me ONE great run D out of those teams besides of course the Giants in which that was a helluva game. My point is that is usually how the NFL goes. Also next time PLEASE don't criticize the mans pass blocking if you truly don't know what your talking about...he did a pretty damn good job doing that last year.

Just wanted to clarify that I am in no way bashing Dwill, he had a great season and is a helluva running back and IMO he is better than Turner but it no way is Turner just another "average" back.
