I just don't think there is enough time for any quarterback besides Volek or Anderson (They should know the concept and formations of some of the playbook) to learn the playbook in time to be ready. Everyone wants a veteran quarterback capable of playing so didn't give me that crap that he would "just be a mentor." If we want "just a mentor" we can sign Jake's a$$.

The thing is, the QB you bring in has to be interested in helping Cam along and I'm not sure either Volek or Anderson would be interested in that, I know Brunell would based on his relationship with Sanchez...

we could do worse. largely just need an experienced set of eyes on the sidelines and experienced voice in meetings. exact scheme doesn't matter a whole lot (unless maybe he's coming from a WCO). key thing, imo, is how to carry and prepare yourself as a professional QB (which i don't really think is going to be a problem for newton or clausen, actually) and to spot what the defense is giving them (probably the bigger need).
