Jay Cutler Vs Matt Moore

both are young.. Matt just finished his 2nd season, Cutler his 3rd..

both have strong arms.. i def give the edge to Cutler though..

both are gunslingers.. arent afraid to try to fit it into the tight window..

obviously Cutler went early 1st round while Matt wasnt even drafted.. and obviously Cutler seems to be a Star in the making while Moore is a ? with upside.. Moore has no where near the experience, but i know some Panther fans out there believe Moore to be the 'Truth' and heir apparent to the QB throne for Carolina..

SO- if we truly have a shot to get Cutler, i think we shud take it, no doubt.. but if we dont, do we all mainly believe Moore is the man to come in after Jake, or is McCown better suited for our offense..

to me Josh and/or Luke McCown (whoever it is) sounds way too much like Chris Weinke..

We don't.

McDaniels was willing to trade Cutler to get Cassel. That's no longer a possibility, and I seriously doubt that McDaniels is dumb enough to trade away a franchise QB without getting one back.

And no, there are no franchise QBs in the draft, and goofy three way scenarios aren't going to happen either

Personally I'd stick with Moore, it's not like we're desperate, the draft next year looks good it it comes to that. But there's a reason why Dallas fans were pissed off when we snatched him off their practice squad. He had a bad pre-season and injury last year, but he did a helluva job the year before as a rookie. I'd say he deserves a chance, though I'm probably in the minority...

How difficult is it for people to read/research, to find out whether or not a player is even on the market? HE ISN'T ON THE MARKET.

I don't care whatever strange logic you use, learn to research before you make a post like this, or learn to shut the heck up.

Yes, we are in the minority here.

People couldn't sing his praises enough a year ago. Then he rides the pine (just as every QB needs to do) when Jake comes back. We know we have a QB in Moore that can play the game, has the arm, and can lead the team. He's going to get a chance to lead this team before any other QB we bring in. How do I know this, cause the Panthers aren't going to trade for an ELITE QB ~ specially this year. The FO still believes in, and stands behind Jake, regardless of the viewpoint of the fans.

Despite all this, fans will never stop dreaming about an ELITE QB. That's fine, dream away ~ but realize that currently, that is all it will be ~ a dream.

Hey to be fair, I wanted to upgrade at the QB position last year and everyone said that Matt was the Future and Jake the present. We went into last year with a QB coming off major surgery and one that was a Undrafted Rookie the previous year and only played in 4 games (most of which was against 2nd string defenses). I like Moore and think he is a capable back-up but I want to see more competition at the QB position.

That is why we brought in McCown isn't it? I'm surprised no one has mentinoed kurt warner as a possibility. Isn't he looking for a new opportunity?

Well I would have but he wants a $14 mill contract when we have virtually no cap room.

So now you are claiming that Moore played against mostly 2nd string defenses in the most important month to win in the NFL? Please, take your weak ass argument elsewhere please.

That being said, there is more competition AT QB now than we've ever had. No, we don't have an elite QB, but we're not going to trade for one. Any drafted QB is going to be battling for the last QB position, possibly the 2nd QB position if they show enough, but not the first.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
