I think Clausen starts preseason, and makes alot of folks on this board look like crap for saying with confidence and all the knowledge of god that he sucks. Cam may start regular season, or perhaps earlier, but......

He may not be great, he may not play like Manning, but I just cant get over how so many can just say after one rookie season with all the things that were going on with the franchise last year (injuries/coaching/personnel issues that Clausen is useless..sucks, and that he might as well just run and hide.

Dont know if he will light it up..frankly don't care as long as at least ONE of our QB's produces something, but just cant get over the idea that while Cam may be a gifted athlete with great size and such...that this will automatically translate into the NFL...

That's like saying that if you are a boxer and are a wizard at doing bagwork, you will be a champion in a real fight. Not sure if any of you have ever fought before or just talk about it behind a keyboard, but I can promise you there is a big difference between natural ability, and dealing with the real thing. I mean seriously, haven't any of you seen the buffed-up buffoon at the bar that looks and acts tough as nails, then folds like a butterfly when actually confronted with real violence and threat?

To me, that is Cam until he gets in a game and performs. Until then, no matter how crappy Clausen may have been last year..at least he has been in there and mixed it up..which is something Cam (nor his supporters) can claim as of yet.

Everyone is getting a new chance with the overhaul of the coaching staff. Jimmy Clausen produced in college, believe it or not. And had much more starts then Cam did in a major college, whenever I talk to Notre Dame fans (like, watch all games) they talk about him in a good way, and think he could be developed into a good starter.

The problems with Clausen can be fixed, last year he didn't have a healthy o-line so let's see how he holds in the pocket during the preseason. Go out and play rugby with Jimmy or something, get it in his head that the fast (while being safe) he gets the ball out the better. And yeah, have him take more chances which will be required for the new offense.

Just don't judge anyone on play during TC, or practices, or anything until we see them play at an actual game. That's when people step up you know? And that's when people could fold.

Before any of you crucify me...

Look at it this way.

Jimmy Clausen starts the season for us, with the talent that is with him now, If Jimmy Can't produce, then ,ok, cut your losses. But if he does produce and generates decent numbers so other teams take notice. This only means Jimmy could be used a trade bait. Meaning the panthers could rape a team just like...The Eagles.

Look at the Eagles, they RAPED the Cardinals for a guy like Kolb. Kolb arguably had some really good Talent around him in Jackson, Maclin, Celek. The Cards still took a chance and gave away a good CB and a 2nd round pick for him.

We don't lose anything by doing this. Nothing, Cam gets to sit maybe 4-5 games tops. We see if Clausen can garner interest. Swindle a team into thinking he's worth say a player we might need at a certain position and a draft pick. Or just a high draft pick. At this point if we just get enough interest that they would only get a 2nd round pick for him, I say do it! Get that 2nd rounder back for the guy.
