Panthers have acquired Greg Olsen!(Update For #3rd Round Pick in 2012)

I think the Bears are giving Martz way too much leeway. The guy will not be around after this year and you have just traded away a good redzone threat. Martz and Olsen coexisted and that is about all.

I don't consider Olsen at TE. The guy is too soft. He can't break tackles and has a tendency to fall over his own feet. In the red zone though, he is lights out.

First off, not a Bears fan and 2nd, i think this is a really good move for Carolina due to the fact that he is a tight end. now he's not Shockey or Witten or Gonzalez. he wont wow you with blocking, but as a pass catcher, he will make plays, usually in the red zone.

I am sorry this is a horrible trade. We way over paid for this guy. Yes he is an upgrade at TE but he doesn't block has some route running issues but he good in the red zone. A 3rd is too much, we cant keep trading away high picks for TEs and speciality players if we expect to have a long term success.

First off runyon, the Panthers HAVE a blocking tight end or two in Shockey and Ben Hartsock, so the trade for Olsen is a good one. Second, a 3rd isnt too much for him, he's a pass catching tight end who will take the heat off Smith. This move will make Steve Smith smile.

I don't remember Olsen being a hot head. He's a evenly tempered guy and great for any locker room. I can't say enough good things about his personality and character. I guarantee you won't have any off the field issues with this guy. His off the field stuff will only be things like charity and giving.

Maybe you should wake up. The good franchises dont make these idiotic moves. Apparently a non-elite TE is worth more than a HOF WR. Yeah sounds perfectly sane to me. I like Olsen, I don't like the price we paid for him. Can't build a team when you trade away all your high draft picks.

Compared to the last few years, I'll take this change in attitude and aggressiveness any time.

A receiving TE gives Cam an escape valve without taking off and running. I know it's been a few years since we have had one of those, but believe me you will like it.

The price is fair for Olsen. Certainly can't get a 1st or 2nd for him, but a 3rd rounder is fair. After all, in one year he'd be gone anyway.

i agree, it's a fair price and i think Olsen will end up signing a deal with Carolina sometime. a 3rd rounder is fair and honestly as good as they could get. if Washington tried to trade Cooley, the best they get is a 4th.

losing a 3rd round pick isnt going to kill your team, Olsen may not be elite, but he's a really good tight end. he was in an offense that was not designed for him, but managed to catch 41 passes. 2nd, what HOF WR do you want????? the only ones i see are Terrell Owens and Randy Moss and in my book they arent worth the trouble of signing.

The hell are talking about? Our 3rd round pick wouldn't be even close to Olsen.

He already signed a 4 year extension.

When i read that i wondered the SAME thing. i thought maybe he meant Kellen Winslow Jr. Greg Olsen isnt known for being a hothead or a locker room pain. he's more underrated if anything.

I just never understood what Mike Martz has against pass catching TE's. He's a good OC, but he gets his QB's killed. Just ask Kurt Warner. Yeah, he won a Superbowl with Martz, but he also got the crap beat out of him and it took him about 3 years to full recover enough to be a successful QB again.

Whatever though...we got us a 1st round caliber TE for a 3rd rounder. That makes me happy!
