The Bears fans don't just look at strictly sacks. We look at how many int, his pass deflectio.........

Yea, Bears fans are so refined and better than all other fans.

I know a bunch of retarded Bears fans, so don't generalize.

Why this deal is awesome

1) 3rd round pick for a first round/pro bowl talent. What a deal.

2) Insurance- Shockey is 30 and injury prone, but he can still play. With him and Olsen, that is a GREAT security blanket for Cam, and takes pressure off of Steve Smith.

3) I don't freaking now, but I'm stoked...im not functioning well at the moment. Excuse me...

I am sorry this is a horrible trade. We way over paid for this guy. Yes he is an upgrade at TE but he doesn't block has some route running issues but he good in the red zone. A 3rd is too much, we cant keep trading away high picks for TEs and speciality players if we expect to have a long term success.

Because this team is so good at drafting in the 3rd round.

The Bears fans don't just look at strictly sacks. We look at how many int, his pass deflections, FF's and the fact that teams had to account for him constantly in the pass rush and especially against the run.

So yeah the Bears were really happy with JP. I personally don't care if Johnson had 10 more sacks than Peppers, Peppers gets a lot of pressure and helps our DL get better. Can't ask fr more.

That is the only thing that kept him around one extra year.

The only reason I said that was because of the fact some fan talked about how Charles Johnson had SOOO MANY more sacks than JP and how JP was a joke of a player.... Wasn't trying to insinuate that Bears fans are so much better...

i think the reason they made the trade is Martz, i am not saying it's a good move, but it's a Martz thing, Martz doesnt like to use the tight end, something i dont understand, as for the offensive line, yeah, they have to fix it, not lose their center, add to it, Martz has the (if i am right) 7 step drop offense, jeez. i will NOT be shocked to hear that the Bears get either Roy Williams or Braylon Edwards or Malcom Floyd because they need WRs too.

I think the Bears are giving Martz way too much leeway. The guy will not be around after this year and you have just traded away a good redzone threat. Martz and Olsen coexisted and that is about all.

Also with Olsen being in his last year, he may have looked after this year and the Bears would not have gotten anything.

I don't consider Olsen at TE. The guy is too soft. He can't break tackles and has a tendency to fall over his own feet. In the red zone though, he is lights out.

In the end the Bears will probably regret this move.

Maybe you should wake up. The good franchises dont make these idiotic moves. Apparently a non-elite TE is worth more than a HOF WR. Yeah sounds perfectly sane to me. I like Olsen, I don't like the price we paid for him. Can't build a team when you trade away all your high draft picks.

Damn. Looks like Chud is serious about this whole "utilize the TE as a major weapon in ways no one has" thing. Not really an Olsen fan, he's too much of a hot head like the young Shockey, but he has talent. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong and his ego doesn't break his game.
