Smitty not going anywhere *Confirmed*

"For me I'm always going to be a Panther," Smith said Thursday from Charlotte. "They took a shot on me when I was coming from nowhere and now I'm going into my 11th year in the league. This will be where I retire, whether that's five years from now or one year from now."

Smith did have lengthy discussions with his wife about what they wanted to do in the future and where they wanted to be. But in the end, they decided the best place for them was Carolina.

This picture is iconic now that these guys will actually see the field together. I am excited.

And look who's in the center. I think Cam's leadership might have had something to do with this. He said in an interview with NFL Network this week, that he's been talking with Smitty to stay a Panther.

I'm happy b/c I think he's still got a lot left in the tank, but this was weird, no doubt.

It's been said that JR and Smitty have a father/son relationship. The "Panther for life" tune was not what he was singing prior to the new CBA. So, did he see the "father" handing out hefty allowances to all of his siblings over the last few days and decide to turn up the "sweet," so to speak, hoping to get a piece of it as well?

Or was all he needed was to see the commitment to keep a talented core intact with the addition of a QB who is actually able to complete passes (from what we've seen) after enduring last year?

Just seems awkward timing and phrasing...
