Kasay's leg strength on kickoff was a big factor on why the didn't re-sign him. They want to only carry 2 kickers (a punter and kicker).

Yup, old loyalties are dead - it's about maximizing the value of each roster spot.

I love me some Kasay, but it was time to find someone who could do both kicking jobs.

Roster spots are overrated. A great field goal kicker is worth more than a 5th string DT.

Also, someone else said why not dump Baker instead and get a punter that can kickoff?

With the kicking rules changing where a KO specialist wasn't going to be needed...one needs to consolidate and have one kicker that can do both KO and FGs.

We should've drafted Henery for Punts, Field goals, and Kickoffs, and cut Baker and Kasay, and solved the jersey number problem. That would have really impressed me. :)
