no thanks. vincent jackson is the most overrated player this board has ever seen, and i want nothing to do with that chump. we'd be big losers in that deal.

Your right because getting a possesion WR whos 6'5" 230 and can get 75 catches, 1000 yds and 8-10 TDS a year for us............yeah we don't need that

hmmmmm

A couple of tidbits that may indicate he is staying for what its worth:

1st a tweet from Darin Gantt

The Agent 89 situation is grinding along slowly as well. If he was absolutely positively not coming back, you'd think he'd be gone already.

And again for FWIW I was listening to Carolina radio and a fan had mentioned that his son plays soccer with Smitty's son. The boy came back home happy saying Smitty's not going anywhere. Smitty is a big family man so I doubt he would feed his son some BS

Had a friend tell me this morning that he knows someone who spoke with our WR coach yesterday who informed him Smitty will be staying. Can't confirm anything about that though. Good signs I suppose.

I would think we will see something about Beason or Kalil before Smitty.

Here's a little tid bit about Smitty from those over at an inferior site, courtesy of PFW:

http://www.derp/

In what should be music to every single Carolina Panthers' fans ears Eric Edholm of Pro Football Weekly is reporting that the organization will not trade WR Steve Smith. In the article posted this morning, PFW paints a picture where Smith will be a professional, even if not entirely happy:

When reached for comment, Smith said he had none but indicated he would report to camp with his teammates as scheduled on Friday. [...] League sources say Hurney made calls around the league to gauge the interest level in Smith, but there were no substantive talks with any specific team.

This is really a double-edged sword, because if Smith is still unhappy in Carolina, but being forced to stay he could potentially become a distraction. However, if the tone of the PFW piece is slightly off, and/or Hurney never really gauged trade interest, then perhaps Smitty truly has had a change of heart and wants to stay in Carolina.

I'm sure we'll learn much more when Panthers' camp opens and the local writers get some extensive time to talk with Smith.

UPDATE: Per ESPN's Adam Schefter he was told by Smith that he wants to remain a Panther for life. So, this would indicate that he is staying of his free will to a degree also.

Saw the same on Roto

IMO we don't need help at WR. Gettis and LaFell are talented.

I really like our WR corps too, however, I think bringing in another vet on the cheap might not be a bad thing. I am not sold on Armanti Edwards at all.. until he shows me something. I wouldn't mind bringing in Malcolm Floyd if the price is right.

Agreed, I also believe Pilares, and Edwards will have a chance to show us something as well.
