Fukodome to Cleveland ... now official.

MILWAUKEE -- The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians are close to a deal that will send outfielder Kosuke Fukudome to Cleveland, according to multiple major league sources. The Cubs will receive minor league outfielder Abner Abreu and right-handed pitcher Carlton Smith from the Indians.

I think they threw in Corey Patterson as a joke.

Looks like Braves are getting Michael Bourn. Not a right hitting outfielder like they wanted but Bourn can hit lefties well. Also, he has some speed and base stealing ability. Something the Braves can really use. They are lacking in the SB department.

Reporting Bourn for Jordan Schafer, Brett Oberholtzer, Paul Clemens, Juan Abreu...none of the big pitching prospects.

Finally a ligament leadoff hitter, who hits both sides well, just as good as Schafer in CF and leads the league in stolen bases. If it's finalized, I really like the move for the Braves, especially with Dan Uggla coming on and Moylan, McCann, Chipper returning during the month.

I wonder if Medlen will ever return this year. Don't want to rush him back at all but he was god for us last year. He could be a great help in the bullpen as well as Moylan.

When I first say this trade without seeing the players I thought where does this place Schafer at in the lineup. To me he could only hit 1 or 8.

Medlen had a set back from TJS and they shut him down for a while. He was scheduled to come back in October, but last I heard they may hold him out this year. Little surprised a RHP has not already been added to the pen.

I liked Jordan, but a move had to be made at this point. I'm just glad we still have all our young pitchers still on the team.

Yeah I heard he had a setback a couple of weeks ago but I also heard during a game a couple of days ago they planned on him pitching off a mound soon. I don't want to rush him back because he is a good pitcher.

EDIT: Just looking it up and they must have been talking about Moylan. I thought I heard Medlen. Moylan will start pitching off a mound today.

The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired shortstop Rafael Furcal from the Los Angeles for a minor league prospect, fortifying their infield.

St. Louis sent outfielder Alex Castellanos, who was playing at Double-A Springfield, to the Dodgers.
