Signed a DT Ron Edwards reached agreement with Carolina on a 3-yr, $8

This is a very sound and smart signing. Rivera/Chud have recent experience playing against him and know his strenghts/weaknesses. We are definitely going to use 3-4 packages against certain teams and downs/distance. His knowledge of these schemes will be useful in helping teammates on the field.

well, even in a 4-3 a NT is supposed to be occupying more than one blocker.

He may have two guys blocking him, but he is not just keeping them occupied in a 4-3...he is allowed to penetrate and get after the QB/RB. Why do you think Haynesworth was so upset that the Skins switched to a 3-4? He was mad because a 3-4 NT is a thankless job that never gets you on the sportscenter or on the stat sheet. He wanted sacks.

OF course, not every 3-4 team has the exact same philosophy, but I'm assuming that KC runs the same 3-4 as NE, where the NT is nothing but a space eater.

Hayden was the worst DT on the team last year. Worse than Ed Johnson. We need to resign Landri, he was easily the best DT we had last year and the #1 DT for stops at or behind the line of scrimmage, just what a Jim Johnson UT needs to be. Edwards, McClain, Fua, Landri, Nebblitt, Irvin is a solid enough group of DTs, especially if it means we can go out and get Johnathan Joseph now. Every DT I just mentioned is better than Ed Johnson or Nick Hayden.

It would have been nice to get Coefield. This might be a good move but it still leaves a hole and for me a bit more to b desired at DT. DT is very important to help out our star DE and then Hardy/Brown.

we should have kept hollis last year. huge mistake letting him go. for sure could have used him in the lockerroom.

You do realize that if Hollis came back to the NFL he would be suspended for a year. Dude got popped taking steroids while he played for us.

Yea, I agree. My point was that we don't really need another DT unless it's a big upgrade to start. Meaning, in my opinion the only DTs we should look at are Amobi Okoye and Brandon Mebane. But if we stay with 5 or 6 of the ones I mentioned, I think we're ok there. Better than last year, anyway.

Not sure that we will keep 6 DT's though.
