Jeff King signed with Arizona Cardinals

Like hell he was overrated. Having to hear everybody bitch and moan for all these years about him being a liability in the passing game, despite posting better than league average numbers at the position, and how much *better* that Rosario and Barnidge would be starting made him UNDER rated around here. I hope he goes out to Arizona and has a Pro Bowl season, but I doubt it with their QB situation being worse than ours.

I will bet you any amount of money that Jeff King will never be a pro bowl tight end. Blocking tight ends rarely make the pro bowl because they aren't exactly lighting up the highlight reels on ESPN for a good block. The TE position has changed and now every team is looking for a fast TE that can stretch the field and block. The slow TE that can only block will be a thing of the past very soon.

I don't know, I think Rosario has a more legitimate shot at something nice with us. Statistically Rosario is better then King, and King has 1-yr. of exp. over Rosario. With Chudzinski, who developed Antonio Gates, i think Rosario could become an asset like that seeing how he's got more of the TE catcher with great hands mentality, and King lacks that, he's more of a blocker TE. Rosario is developing, and with Barnidge, and Shockey Chudzinski could develop these guys into beasts without a doubt.

Rosario has been "developing" for 4 years in the NFL. I say he has one more year to come into his own before we need to end the Rosario Project. People here won't give Clausen a year to develop as a rookie on a bad team, but guys like Rosario get 4 years of being very average.

Thanks for proving my point.

What were his better than league avg numbers?

In 2010 he was 43rd in catches, 52nd in yardage, 90th in ypc, and tied for 30th with 2 TD's.

In 2008 (a playoff year) he was 36th in catches, 39th in yardage, 59th in ypc, and had 1 TD.

That kind of production will be hard to replace.

Are these numbers for TE's only or for all receivers?

And we just let our most consistent tight end walk away, way to go guys.

I think my imaginary friend would produce more and be harder to replace then him, Jeff King, no offense to the man sucked IMO, and never knew why Fox was so stuck on starting him.

Jeff King was a mirage of the panther faithful Wesley Walls shadow. You probably could have seen him driving a Ford truck and might have shaken his hand at a Bojangles in Bumfugville, NC.:lol::lol::lol: I enjoyed that one myself. In all honesty Jeff King was the man and I've never washed my hand since!

Hope he has a great career in AZ, except when we play them. At the same time I am happy to see him go because it means the Panthers are indeed being true to their word for once and committing soley to the more athletic tight ends like Barnidge and Rosario (hopefully we re-sign him), nonetheless, like others have mentioned I will miss seeing those long hanes shirts that look like they are stashing duke robinson's munchies.
