It was either pay Johnson or have to deal with a Johnson/Abraham tandem. The Panthers made the right choice especially if the hit to the cap is no more than $8 million dollars, because that will give the Panthers an opportunity to re-sign Anderson and Williams. Plus they can restructure Thomas Davis's contract to get a little bit more money on the cap if needed. Once they get their guys locked up they can set their eyes on Coefield and a goot Cornerback.
