cutting brayton now and cutting him in two weeks will still result in the same cap hit, correct?

makes sense to have another warm body in camp since hardy will miss time

bringing in a UDFA who will potentially be cut ON TOP of cutting brayton would cost us even more

james datore is going to hate. it makes perfect sense. you can cut him before the season starts, why cut him now when you can wait. I never said that they were cutting him to save money he just does not seem to fit in the new system, and he had a bad year last year. with norwood moving to DE you now have johnson, hardy, brown, and norwood. what is use for brayton?

Why cut John Kasay then? Might as well just have a kicking contest for fun, or let two guys practice long snapping

wait TRD is trollin nevermind

Wait why am i trolling?

All guys in camp make the same amount. The real paychecks don't start until the season so bringing in a UDFA is just as expensive as keeping Brayton for camp.

On to the cap hit, I don't understand how it works.

Is there a certain date we have to cut him by and his 3.5 won't go against hte cap for this year.

Is that date before the season opener or before camp starts?

Are you really comparing keeping the two. How about they have the ultimate respect for Kasay and didn't want to drag him along. Good comparison tho.

your james dater aren't u

Whether or not it's James Dator of Cat Scratch Reader or not, it's obvious that his sole purpose for being here is to try and discredit everything you have said.

He has added nothing to the board as far a constructive conversation (as far as I have seen).

Congratulations! The first evidence that you have arrived. You have a stalker.

Regarding the cap hit, honestly, I'm not 100% sure under the new CBA, but this is how it worked under the old one:

- If a player was cut prior to June 1st their cap figure had to be counted against this year's salary cap

- If a player was cut after June 2nd their cap figure had to be counted against the following two salary caps (split equally).

Teams elected to cut early because they didn't want dead money on future salary caps and would rather take the cap hit immediately, rather than later. If this is the case for Carolina this year it would make far more sense to cut Brayton early and have it count in a season where they're not likely to hit the cap than to wait and have it count against two future caps.

Still not sure about the dates under the new CBA though
