I remember a bunch of people on the board loved this guy the year he came out in the draft. From his play, he reminds me a lot of Chris Harris.

Beat me too it.

Drafted in 2007 by the Bears. He's had a problem with injuries (missed most of his first season and a lot of his third season). He spent all of last year on IR with St Louis.

Rivera was in San Diego when the Bears drafted Payne.

(he would likely have been able to get info from former colleagues though)

Safety is a position we definitely sleep on. We needed to improve the depth at this position. Let's hope he can produce like that 08 season or close. I have a lot of confidence in Rivera bringing the best out of all the players especially on defense.

after doing research you are correct. he left Chicago prior to the 2007 draft...

Interesting... I wouldn't be surprised if Chico showed interest in Danieal Manning, who is likely to be released by da Bears
