DeAngelo Free Agency Thread

And you're the GM of what team...? Our backfield is only stacked when D-Will and J-Stew are 1A and 1B, Mike Goodson is not on EITHER of their levels. I think he's a great talent given his ST and receiving capabilities on 3rd downs. With his propensity to fumble no way am I comfortable with him as the the 1B to Stew at 1A.

D-Will has split carries his entire career between DeShaun Foster, and the drafting of Stew; he's got plenty of gas left in the tank. Especially considering "OUR FO" kept him from taking an unnecessary beating by putting him on IR for an injury he could've returned from if we weren't lame ducking the season.

No, by NFL standards....Stewart/Goodson/Sutton is a stacked. The production of the backfield when DeAngleo has been hurt also supports it.

at this point, Goodson has shown just as much potential as Williams did 2 years into his career.....like Williams he is headed into his 3rd year w/ things he knows he needs to work on.

Everyone keeps saying Williams has all this gas in the tank and then ignores the fact he has had flat tires for 2 consecutive seasons. Williams was a beat up car when he entered the NFL unlike most RBs now.

With Stewart, Sutton and Goodson all on their rookie contracts, we can pay Williams which will still make sense financially and it lets the other guys know we will reward them after their rookie contract expires. If players think the minute their rookie deals are done that we will just discard them, it makes it hard for them to want to be a longterm Panther. They feel that they deserve that next big contract after putting in so much for relatively little. This gives Steward a sense that we will value him and pay him when his contract comes up for renewal. It helps not only Williams but all the other guys looking to see how we treat Williams after he has worked hard for us.

that is true.....but in today's NFL.....I think RB is the one position you move on after the rookie deal is done pending you are solid there.

Slap yourself for saying that, "beat up car really". I have officially begun to ignore anything else you say, this is one of the more ignorant comments I've read.

okay, name 2 NFL RBs playing today that had more touches in college than Williams.

You can add Stewart's entire college career + 2/3rds of his NFL career together (first 2 years).......and he doesn't have the touches Williams had at Memphis.

What is ignorant is to claim Williams wasn't ridden harder than virtually every RB that is in the NFL upon entering.

That is fact. You need to punch yourself in the groin.

I'm as big a deangelo fan there is, but this isn't a crazy thing to say. He ran the hell out of the ball at Memphis and carried it ALL the time. Doesn't change the way I feel about wanting him to retire here though.

I never questioned the amount of carries he had at Memphis (I'm aware of the amount), I dismissed the "beat up car" comment; that was an ignorant statement (continue to slap yourself). If he was such a beat up car he would not have been able to maintain the high level he has been able to sustain. Furthermore teams would not view him as the FA HB prize of this off-season, and the majority of fans wouldn't want to keep him if that were a "true" statement (see LT to Jets).

According to NFLN. D-will won't test free agency if Panthers make decent offer. (paraphrasing)

Link please.

The beat up car remark was a reference to how hard he was rode in college. You make no sense. You basically claim it is true and false in the same breath.....and have the balls to call others you are talking to ignorant.

He has been on IR the past two consecutive seasons.
