I put no stock in ESPN when it comes to things like this, it feels like they never do research and just say a lot of crap to see what sticks.

Well...considering Deangelo is meeting with our staff as reported by PFT and he has said on multiple occassions he wants to be back and JSTEW has said on multiple occassions he wants him back...I think we work out a deal.

Normally I wouldn't be on the bandwagon to resign a running back to a second deal when we already have a guy the caliber of Jonathan Stewart but having a solid running game is going to be critical to Newton's development.

Yeah, I didn't see Jawny's thread until after I posted mine - so that's comforting. I saw some of what he said on his UStream or whatever last night, but for him to tell Reed too, and it being reported, that makes me feel better.

If we keep him, which I certainly 100% completely hope we do, I am SUPER HYPED to see how Chud uses DLo and Stew together, Goodson too...

well, it only makes sense that DeAngelo meets with and listens to what Carolina has to offer.....and it only makes sense for him to pitch he wants to be back.

None of that means DeAngleo isn't gonna see whatelse he can get.....

I really believe that the Panthers repeated statements of "signing their own", means they are willing to match any offer for D-will.

The money is not going to be an issue.

I have to believe he is going to be back .

then Carolina is foolish if they take that approach.

Eh, even more foolish to let him walk for nothing, when they could have traded him last season.

smarter to let him walk than to overpay an aging RB in a passing league...when your backfield is stacked.

But yeah, if they let him walk.....at the same time Carolina should be slammed for it. How you can let Peppers and then DeAngleo walk out your door for nothing IMO shows how poorly some people are at building this team and managing talent.

I definitely agree with what your are saying, but I believe that a four year deal wouldn't be so bad.

Having two stud running backs have and are going to slow down the running back aging process.

It was just a couple years ago when we rode these guys to the playoffs with Delhomme under center.

I do appreciate your practical opinion, but I am letting the fanboy/optimistic takeover.

I am not saying a 4 yr deal would be bad either.....I am saying being willing to match any offer as a means to keep him could be bad.

Plus, Williams has been hurt the past 2 years......could easily sign him and trend continues.

We rode him into the postseason in what will soon be 4 years ago.....that is a LONG time ago in terms of talking about NFL RBs.

And you're the GM of what team...? Our backfield is only stacked when D-Will and J-Stew are 1A and 1B, Mike Goodson is not on EITHER of their levels. I think he's a great talent given his ST and receiving capabilities on 3rd downs. With his propensity to fumble no way am I comfortable with him as the the 1B to Stew at 1A.

D-Will has split carries his entire career between DeShaun Foster, and the drafting of Stew; he's got plenty of gas left in the tank. Especially considering "OUR FO" kept him from taking an unnecessary beating by putting him on IR for an injury he could've returned from if we weren't lame ducking the season.

I dont think we would have to go dollar for dollar to match any offer, I believe if the numbers are comparable then we have a decent shot.

But I dont believe another team, especially teams that are being talked about as landing spots for D-will, are going to offering him 5 year 50 million dollar deals.

We both agree, we want him back, if the price is right.
