Thomas Davis COULD be a FA

He could be a FA.

duh.

TD...MEH I am not big on him back to back injuries and we are stacked at the position. If you're against keeping Dwill becasue we have Jstew...TD should be even more of a 'no go' than Dwill with the injuries.

His contract will likely be incentive based.

Does TD fit into Riveras system?

TD fits fine with what rivera & mcdermott plan to do on defense, he can cover, line up as a rush linebacker in a 3-4 front but most importantly he is a playmaker for us, the only question mark is his health

The way James Anderson played last year IDK if we give Davis another contract. He is a top tier LB and is going to want that kind of money and IDK if he's worth it with his injury history. Sometimes you gotta cut bait and go with what you have. We have a really solid core of LBs. IMO you don't spend big money on a guy that has an injury history where you also have pretty good depth.

I think Marshall and Davis are two casualties and we go in a different direction...could be wrong.

ESPN isn't paying attention. The PUP thing might technically be accurate, but TD has addressed this numerous times. Clayton apparently hasn't been listening to TD all offseason. TD has said that he was told by the team that he won't be held back by that technicality. Now, JR/Hurney could have just been lying to him and they'll keep him for another year under his rookie deal, but I really don't expect that to happen.

In Gantt's opinion we are going to sign Davis long-term or release him to "do right by him". I like the fact that the Panthers treat people right, but this is one of those cases when I think we go too far.

We have a chance to see if Davis is still the same guy after two knee surgeries before we make a commitment to him or let him go play for someone else... the first priority should be to do right by the organization and in this case the right move is to let Davis play out his current contract and see how his knee holds up before we extend him or release him.

ohh those ACLs...football players usually just fall off the planet not get better from blown out knees.

I love him and what he was becoming..rushing himself last season is a huge red flag...better have injury clauses and be incentive based or sadly just walk away. Dan Morgan 2.0 should never happen.
