Take it with the biggest grain of salt you can find...but Prisco seems to think we can get a "second and something else" for Smith.

If so. Do it. Now. I love Steve as much as anyone but you gotta do that if you can.

Even if we get a 2nd for Smitty, we'll piss it away on the next Eric Shelton or Dwayne Jarrett. fml

if he's on board with the direction of the team, i'm all for him staying.

if the team has a legit alternative/upgrade in mind, i'm all for that as well.

whatever makes the panthers better, i'm for. who it is in the uniform doing it doesn't really matter.

Personally i believe Steve smith was just a casualty of the lockout and the growing despiration from sports reporters to get a story. When you have the worse offense in the entire league you don't let your best player leave, Period. Can we finally close the book on this and file it under lockout boredom.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, it's "virtually certain" that free agent Malcom Floyd will re-sign with the Chargers.

The Chargers have $11 million committed to Vincent Jackson via the franchise tag, and are expected to pursue a trade for Steve Smith. Per the Union-Trib, Floyd is "expected to agree to terms elsewhere relatively quickly," although the 30-year-old receiver hasn't been linked to any teams in substantive reports. If the Chargers can't acquire Smith, they may look to Patrick Crayton third-round pick Vincent Brown to book end V-Jax.

we really can't put an end to it, unfortunately. smith's status must be settled, and as smart as you may be, you are not in his head and can't make that decision for him.

I never said i was in his head so how you came to that conclusion with my post is rather odd. I'm not that smart either, i did manage to get a degree but that does little for people nowadays anyway.

So as of now i find your opinion very Shallow and pedantic.

Smitty may not have much more than two very good years before his skills start diminish very quickly. We're not going to contend for playoffs this year. We might next year but it won't be easy.

He is also concerned about his wife's health and seems to be want to be closer to home. San Diego is a great city and the Chargers have a great QB.

Smitty's gone.
