Kris Jenkins interview

Great interview.

I miss Jenks and we haven't had a decent DT since he left.

How cool it is to hear candor from a player. I still believe with all my heart that he told the truth in that infamous interview and truth and Fox did not match. He just said what we could all see from the stands.

I actually respect him more now for his honesty. I know the way fox and hurney were running things turned a lot of players off. You just have guys like beason who know how to be more professional about things. Guys like Jenkins and pep aren't going to put up with too much bullpoo. About our fanbase, it'll turnaround soon. You people in my age that really didn't have a favorite team like that because we were young teenagers when the panthers were born. The younger generation combined with us will start a true tradition of die hard panther fans. No disrespect to the older guys because I know there are some older die hards out there, but there are a lot that really have another team they root for on the side.

Agree. It takes a lifetime to build a true die hard fanbase. It's going to have to start with the generation that's currently in their 20's and younger that grew up knowing nothing but the Panthers. While we still have people in our area that grew up watching the Cowboys, or Redskins, or Steelers, then you're always going to have holdovers because because of who they grew up cheering for.

this is not an interview you would ever get from a current player. He lets loose and is so truthful. He's allowed to say what he wants, but he's still bitchin' a lot for someone who was paid millions to play.

He said that JR has a right to run his organization like he wants but that basically men aren't allowed to act like men they have to do what's expected of them.

The stadium music sucks.

He called Minter and Rucker "Puppet Minter and Puppet Rucker" for towing the company line.

Said that anybody who expected Pep to be a leader shouldn't have expected it because he came from a small town in NC and never had to evolve as a leader before his time on the Panthers.

Said he was pissed that management would talk to him about what he did and who he hung out with outside of practice. He said he was an adult and kept his business out of the papers so the team shouldn't care what he does outside the training facility.

Said he's basically out of football now because his lawyers told him that, because he's in a custody fight over his 9 yr. old, that if he plays football his baby's mama will use that against him saying she's a better parent. Said he made a decision to be a dad so he's giving football up and concentrating on being a parent.

Amazingly, he trashed the Jets strength and conditioning coach (ala jerry simmons) for not knowing what he's doing and being a little tattle tale.

Said Pep may have not appreciated what he and Buck did to free up people like him to get the headlines with their play.

As much as I love Minter and Rucker I could totally see the Mike's being kiss asses. Mighty Mouse would probably get upset when anyone said a bad word. Of course that's a generalization but you know what I mean.

Still Jenkins was a slob who was lucky to have as much success as he had despite how much he ruined is own talent and potential.

I don't really blame Fox for trying to micro manage him. I mean yeah I'm sure it was annoying but Jenkins in his prime was the best DT in the game and could have been a HOF. Fox and Co were trying to save him. The dude came into every TC 30 lbs overweight.

Jenkins also said that he was on the 1-15 last team that Seifert coached. He said that Seifert was a laissez faire coach who had few rules and the Richardson went the opposite of that approach when he hired Fox. Fox was an unproven head coach and he came in and asserted his authority and was totally different from Seifert.

Seifert was a weird dude. Always seemed like his mind was elsewhere. His OC quit on him a few games into the season, either 2000 or 2001. His players couldn't stand him.

Fox was very outgoing and open with the media when he first arrived. He cut up with them after practice every day on the way back to the stadium. Then he was assimilated into the Borg.
