Panthers need a vet QB but Bulger isn't the right fit

From the National Football Authority:

The Cam Newton era in Carolina is near, but until the first overall pick is ready to seize the starting job, the Panthers need a placeholder at quarterback.

Jimmy Clausen is not the answer after a horrific rookie season that featured an abysmal 58.4 passer rating.

Instead, the Panthers need to add a grizzled veteran quarterback.

One of the most accomplished veterans available is Marc Bulger, who spent last year as the backup in Baltimore after years as a starter in St. Louis.

But Bulger isn’t a great fit for Panthers. That’s in large part because he seems to prefer being on a good team, even as a backup, to starting for a bad team. Had he wanted to be a full-time starter in 2011, Bulger reportedly could have gotten a gig in Arizona.

The fact that Bulger apparently prefers to stay as a backup in Baltimore leads to questions about whether he is willing to take more lumps for a lower-tier team.

With all the changes, it's not like we are coming out winning anyway... Let Jimmy play.. see if he can make some improvement from last year. Let him try to hold the fort and be at least decent until Cam is ready. Maybe he shows value and can be moved later, or maybe a reliable #2 or backup in Carolina.

Bulger may not have much of a choice and we might be the best option. That said he might not be the right fit for us. He is not much of a back up at this point and teaching and ridding pine is his best talents. We need someone to be able to step in if Cam is not ready cause Jimmy will never be.
