What is our best short term option at qb?

TBH your going to need a QB that understands what system Chud will be running. IDK who that is but he would be our guy. Either that or someone that could understand a playbook in a very short time.

Might as well just get Volek...but I would be very interested in trading for Orton

If everything goes as planned, we will sign Moore or some guy that knows they're just there to hold a clipboard and give Cam some veteran advice. Our training camp should start on schedule and Cam will more than likely get to start as long as he shows he's progressing.:cam:

you all are assuming Chud can help Anderson relive that one year. well, using the same logic that he can turn a pickle back into a cucumber, we might as well stick Cam in there and let him gain experience.

LOL Good analogy:)

Volek would fit and I think its well known Orton wants to start so he is not going anywhere there is a Fran guy especially a first overall pick guy.

Moore would be a poor choice for Veteran experance. He has not even played a full season as a starter and if we go that route there is others with more talent then Moore.

This is the most likely to come to fruition. Yes we will suck badly this year but he will get better with good coaching. Pickles may very well do the same.

On the flip side, why would the Panthers want him?

He's the best QB from the prior year. He's shown SOME promise. His style SEEMS to fit the system they are bringing in. He's still young enough to develop. He's coming off of an injury so he could be cheap.

The only reason they would want him is if they don't plan on starting Cam right away. If that is the plan, he could come in and start a few games and he's proven he can win (and lose).

If they want to go seasoned vet to show Cam the ropes and give him some useful insight, they would want some older that is just going to be another coach on the sidelines, Moore does not fit that description with his limited starting experience.

Moore is not the guy for advice.

I don't know anyone in this thread that is assuming that.

That's an assumption that you are making.

The only reason why I think Anderson is a good candidate is the benefit he can provide for Cam.

I could care less how Anderson plays, if he plays well great if not then he won't be the starter for very long.

His assest come from the fact that he played for Chudzinski and therefore he knows his offense and he knows what it takes to execute the offense at a high level.

I agree with most of your post; but because I see the development of Cam as the focus of the franchise I don't see the upside to bringing Moore back.

Me neither, that's why he's gone.

The only way is if they don't want Cam to play for half a season or more and I don't see that happening, he should start day 1

Even if they don't want to Cam to play Moore still wouldn't make sense because he doesn't mentorship or scheme familiarity and those 2 are the most important traits the QB the team brings in should have, imo.

Well hopefully they'd like a chance to win some games when Cam isn't in there and a there aren't many "vets" that are better than Moore that also have the mentorship or scheme familiarity AND want to be a placeholder until Cam is ready.

Who knows though.
