What is our best short term option at qb?

Well we'll just respecfully disagree. I think Cam could learn a lot from McNabb even if its not about the particular system. Just the intangibles of the game alone would help Cam tremendously.
I guess so, no worries though.

We both want to see Cam/Panthers succeed just have different views on how to get there.

But, I do see where you're coming from.

I think there are some things that McNabb could teach Cam.

Afterall Vick credits McNabb with teaching him how to study film and how to be a professional QB.

But, I think Cam would benefit much more from having another set of eyes that have actually executed (at a high level) the exact plays that Chudzinski's will call.

I think Cam already has the drive and an abundance of talent he just needs to be taught.

I will be disappointed if Newton doesn't start at QB (if Donovan McNabb starts I will break something) Cam's the kind of guy who will succeed early, if at all. Big, athletic guy and thick skinned, media-wise. He does not need a year sitting on his ass "learning" the QB position.

Cam needs to play. It's very simple. If he sucks? Well, there you go.

My point is we will more than likely carry 3 qbs on the roster so we have to pick up another qb anyway. Many are likening Cam to a superman. There is such a thing as putting superman, oh I mean Cam, in a postion to fail. The coaches should play Cam when they feel he is ready but until then we have to give ourselves the best chance to win. I know he has read the playbook but the playbook does not replace practice and the timing required to play in the NFL.We need a another qb that can come in and give us a chance to win ballgames when the season opens.I am sure they will send him in for some looks early but we have to be realisic about the effects of the CBA will have on his readiness. The goal is to win games not to see how fast we can put Cam in.

Moore.

I am not in disagreement but do you think Moore wants to return to the Panthers? I see some advantages of bringing in someone familiar with Chuds offense but Anderson has one sucessiful year and I have never seen Volick play so I really cannot make an intelligent suggestion.

I agree but...

I believe that Cam is the key for the Panther's franchise winning games going forward; long term.

Therefore I believe developing Cam is more important then winning a few ballgames today.

Therefore imo the best QB to bring in is the QB most beneficial to Cam's development, rather then the QB most able to win ballgames.

Hopefully they can find a QB that can do both win games and help develop Cam.

To me the quality of the QB isn't as important as their scheme familiarity.

And Anderson not only played in the Coryell system he's played directly for Chudz, and his 1 year w/ Chudz was the best season(only good season) of his career.

Moore is going to look for a position he can build a career. If nothing comes available for him, he'll look for a backup job. Carolina will be his first choice in that scenario.

If both of those don't become available to him, he'll look for a paycheck.

On the flip side, why would the Panthers want him?
