Jerry said we'll be aggressive in Free agency!!!!!!

So are you saying more than 4 wins this season?

I think so.....Fox winning 2 games wasn't really a pure talent issue. He had loads of it.....he just wasn't allowed to do what he wanted and those small differences were huge.

Rivera has loads of talent....much more than most 2 win teams of recent history. I fully expect 5-7 wins. OL, run game, and D.....are gonna wins games. If Jerry would have allowed Fox to make a handful of tiny moves that he wantend.....Fox would have won more games.

of course he did. He says the same thing every year. What is he supposed to say following a 2-14 season and while on he verge of having to negotiate some very big "keep 'em's" and a couple "extend 'em's"?

With one quote he has apparently quelled most common fans, given cause to piss-pants PSL owners to pat themselves on their backs, and induced pause into those whose contracts are in question to consider again just how good they have it in Carolina. All without having to really do anything and without being held accountable for anything.

Exactly. We will have to be aggressive signing guys like Williams this year because we failed to do what we should have done which is sign him last year when there was no cap and we could have front loaded the contract with no consequence. But that would have made sense if we were looking to the future and not trying to save a buck. It also meant we would have have been working for a new agreement instead of leading the charge to hold out for a long time.

Richardson screwed the pooch repeatedly last year and now looking at it. made al the wrond decisions. Look at KC and Tampa for example. They are in just as good of shape regarding the cap as we are right now but had good seasons last year as well in 2010. Proving you didn't have to suck in 2010 to be set up for 2011.

wow i cant believe i agree with you.

I'm usually right

Matt. Moore. SUCKS.

He played bad last year, but the year in question, when dude was talking about needing to throw the ball to win, Moore put up the second best numbers in the league during his time as a starter. Using that as a jump off point, there was no reason to think this team wouldn't be competitive in 2010 until Jerry decided to make it that way.

When you have a totally new staff, are the youngest team in the league, have a rookie quarterback, gutted most of the vets, and are installing a totally new system, that is the very definition of rebuilding. As for 4-12 that is twice as many wins as last year. Honestly if you think we will be much better than that you might be severely disappointed.

Agreed sir. We are the definition of rebuilding right now and my whole point is we could be a year ahead of Jerry wasn't looking out for himself only. If he cared about the team the year before, Fox would have been gone, this staff would have been in place last year, we would have taken our bumps and bruises learning a new system, we could have 2 drafts of players for this system instead of one, etc.

It's not that tough to understand.

thats key right there. waiting to get rid of fox when you knew he was not coming back hurts everything but his pockets. we would not have to install a new scheme and would be a year ahead of were this team stands now.

also the 2010 draft would have been of players that fit what the new coach wanted......and had input on. Instead you have an odd class that wasn't drafted for the past or present coach.

Depends on who we sign as a Vet QB.

If we sign a player like Bulger and start him, I could definitely see us at 7-8 wins....assuming we make moves at WR, DT, and CB in Free Agency (which I think we do).

If either Clausen or Cam starts this year, I think 4 wins in about right.

hell yeah, great point.

im not coming to that poo.

Every point you made or will make in this thread later has already been made by me, even the point you said "Hell yeah, great point." to.

I've always been a pioneer and a leader of men, I don't know why I expected things to change now.

Amen. Big Cat needs to make some big moves to repay the fans for last years debacle. It would help if we can resign some of our guys and bring in some fresh blood that can contribute quickly.

Three guys i would love to see in Carolina are Anthony Adams, James Jones and Jonathon Joseph. Not big moves in the sense of overpaying for big names huh. But all three of these guys have quietly became valuable players on winning squads. Bears DT on Super Bowl squad. Jones has played with Favre and Rodgers and made himself a trusted target. Joseph is primed for showtime.

Adams may want to follow his old coach. Joseph may see Carolina as home. Jones could easily become our number 1 WR if Smitty is traded.

    • After the Chiefs game a 6'5 X would really help in the Red zone. I would also love to add Slayton in FA
    • But again, you can restock a defense through free agency much easier than offensive skill positions. Spend all our cap space on defense, take a true elite prospect who also happens to fit a position of need in T-Mac, and then use the rest of our picks on defense. Again, every season there’s a smattering of great DL, LB, and DB options in free agency, a Top 10 WR never hits free agency, ever.  The only way you get one is through the draft or giving up 1st round picks in a trade for one. If he’s there when we’re on the clock, he has to be the pick, he’s just that good.
    • It must be an early Christmas for JT O'Sullivan having Thielen back so he could put a coal in Thielen's stocking every chance he gets.  Honestly, the biggest surprise is not so much the anticipation. There were those moments here and there last year as well. It's that even that one positive quality he had seemingly vanished his first two games to where it looked like it was all but over, only for it to start coming back some until you get exclamation points all over this game film. And some of those throws were under a lot of duress, something I feel is something new. Finally, those deeper shots are starting to land. Not all of them, but enough that defenses may have to start respecting them. No guarantees whether this will end up as more of anomaly but I certainly hope it isn't. The Green Bay game was a sampler of what BY could be. Against KC, we got a meal. If we could start getting these meals regularly, we might actually have something to work with here.
