That would sort of be like baseball. Talk is the next year or two could be that way. Obviously would benefit bigger market teams. We'll see.

On no hard cap, there's talk teams might be able to spend over the cap (without penalty) which allows them to keep high-priced vets.

Could be big deal.

Could be unfounded rumor.

Discuss.

Seems like something a particular mega billionaire Owner, who's currently over the cap brought up.

Lol, this.

Also the Panthers wouldn't be in trouble, because of the PSL's they rank in the top 10-11 in revenue each season and are one of the more valuable NFL franchises.

they are wayyy over the cap too and would have a hell of a time getting under

Not really, they can make 3 moves and get under the cap. Just restructure the deals of Romo, Ware and Austin. Saves 20 million in cap room and extends the three most important players on the team.

So...this means the Panthers can sign players like crazy?

They could but...

We lack a big enough market to sustain them. Other bigger revenue teams wouldn't. Clearly this gives some teams an advantage and that is obviously the biggest clue NOT to support this. They should just raise the ceiling if they must, teams don't HAVE to spend everything.

Who wants to see the Cowboys become even more popular?

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
