i still think its possible that benjen stark was coldhands

also as far as joanna lannister + aerys = tyrion

barristan selmy mentioned somewhere that aerys had a fondness for joanna. aerys being a suck fug raped joanna, and when tywin found out he sent her back to lannisport...hence his desire for revenge and revolt against the mad king.

joanna, in an effort to rid herself of the rape baby, took moon tea, but it was either not strong enough or too late in the term to abort, and the child was disfigured and ended up contributing to her death during child birth

the only real support for this theory being what barristan said, the fact that tyrion has one blue eye and one dark eye from two blonde haired, blue eyed parents, and tywin's reluctance to both give him casterly rock and telling tyrion "you are no son of mine" right before tyrion shoots him in the intestines

all of which makes a pretty strong case. but who would know other than joanna lannister, tywin lannister? his uncle kevan? they're all dead.

tywin took on tyrion as his son only because the lannister name matters more than either of them

Littlefinger is the biggest creeper of all time... He is the ultimate anti-hero... I don't really like him, and I can't tell who is playing the game harder at this point, but it may ultimately come down to a Varys vs. Littlefinger throwdown, with all these other characters picking a side...

oh and I still think the R+L=J thing could be wrong, and Benjen somehow is a bigger player in that whole thing... We still don't know why Benjen joined the NW in the first place, and for all we know he could very well be alive and doing something somewhere that has some sort of significance in the bigger picture...

I agree, but GRRM is investing too much time revealing littlefingers plots for him not to become the next ruler of the kingdoms.

Even if Cercei wins her trial by battle using Robert Strong, she will still never be allowed to rule again after being paraded naked through the streets. And, Kevin Lannister is weak, and wont be able to keep the lannisters in power now that Tywin is dead.

Littlefinger is methodical. He is biding his time, letting the Lannisters, Boltons, and Stanis weaken themselves fighting each other, and when he has the combined power of the North and the Vale, no one will be able to stop him, especially since the forces of the Vale are strong because they were untouched by the war of the 5 kings.

I think it will take the combined power of a unified 7 kingdoms to be able to stand a chance against the Others, so Littlefinger will have to be removed from power before that can happen.

Kevan Lannister is dead

The only Lannisters that matter that are left are Cersei, Jamie, Tyrion, Tommen, Myrcella, and Lancel...

FYI There won't be any new POV chapter narrators in the coming books... at least the way I read it...

IE. There won't be any new chapters "according to" anyone that hasn't already had a chapter from their POV in the series...

Get used to Jon, Sam, Cersei, Jamie, Brienne, Arya, Melisandre, Areo Hotah, Theon, Asha, Tyrion, Dany, Barristan, Bran, Sansa, and Victarion... as they will most likely cover the POV from here on out...

All i could think of when Jon was getting killed was "Et tu Brute?" Also, I think Melisadra will bring him back to life.

Don't have anything else to add since most of what I've been thinking has been talked about in this thread already.

You think he's actually dead? I always got the sense he's severly wounded, and George RR's gonna pull the "He awoke with great pain in a bed with lots of bandages!!!!!" routine. I dunno why I think that, but in my gut it feels like he's faking us out.

Gotta be dead. Dead doesn't mean dead in this series tho...see Cat.

Also didn't like the sudden power of the religion in this book. They were nothing but a brooding undertone in the other books, now suddenly they have the power to arrest and incarcerate a queen. Seemed a bit too much, too soon for me.

Yeah, there is pretty much a holy war coming, and they don't even know it in the capital of the Seven Kingdoms...

The Seven - represented by their resurgence and political influence in King's Landing

The Old Gods - represented by Bran/Children of the Forest, and some old world holdovers (Norhterners for the most part)

The Great Other - represented by The Others

R'hllor - represented by the color red (lulz), but basically the NKOTB in Westeros (not across the sea, mind you)

The Many-Faced God - represented by Arya and the House of Black and White

The Drowned God/Storm God - The Greyjoys

...and a few smaller deities...

They'll all be coming to a head before you know it, and nobody will care anything about the Game of Thrones anymore...
