I think it is funny how other teams think when a player is cut there is an opportunity to pick up an unnoticed gem. I guarantee this cat is the equivalent of our Richard Marshall. Good players rarely get cut or released. This is why free agents rarely work out.

That's a pretty sweeping generalization. What makes him expendable is not necessarily his performance but his SALARY. He was a top-10 pick, thus his salary is probably astronimical under the guidelines of the preceeding CBA. So, is he worth 6-8 mill a year? Probably not, but at the right price, he can be a valuable commodity for a team in need at the DT position.

And as for free agents not working out, see Charles Woodson, Julius Peppers, Ladainian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, Priest Holmes, T.O., etc. etc.

According to a lot of people on this board the only players worthy of being signed in free agency are perennial pro bowlers who are going to be pursued by everyone else and probably won't come here anyway since they want to win now. Nevermind the fact that we have had success with first round reclamation project defensive linemen and under the radar signings.

Sometimes it's just peronality clashes or he didn't want to be on that team to begin with. Yeah, it might hurt now, but if goes to a team and coaches he wants to play for...he will get paid.
