DeAngelo Williams a bad fit for the Panthers

Ummmm... Last I heard we have 72 hrs to get him locked in once FA starts before ANY other team even thinks about talking to him... I'm not even gonna trip unless he doesn't sign within that window...then and only then will I get even a Lil worried.

It makes business sense for DeAngelo to check his value around the league. Fans are overly sentimental. The guy might want to get the most for his talents. Personally i think J-Stew is due his time in Carolina and maybe we can use a draft pick on some young talent. We lock D-will down to a contract and we are gonna have to give him mucho reps. I am just gonna beg all of you to look at this as the business it is. Unless Williams is willing to forgo his chance at UFA and give us a sweetheart hometown discount we need to ready ourselves for a future without D-Will.

Don't think Denver is going to provide the opportunity to be great. Unless they offer an insane contract do not seeing that situation being attractive.

Besides...we already think he is great.

Reps and being the primary RB is an opportunity to be great.....instead of just good (splitting carries). Denver is every bit as attractive as Carolina. Fans thinking a player is great is different from a player getting the chance to really be great among his peers.....if Stewart was never drafted and Williams had been getting the reps he most likely would be looked at differently

Seriously doubt he'll sign within that window, probably a chance CJ won't either. They want to test FA to see which offers they get from teams and then chose who to go to.

While J Stew and Goodson are both good RB's... I don't think Goodson has proven enough for us to say "Oh, well losing DeAngelo won't hurt that much."... it would hurt. Goodson is quite possibly the fastest fumbling machine in the NFL. Doesn't do much good to get a 65+ yard run if you're going to cough it up.

We need to keep DeAngelo... we need to pay the man. The more potential pro-bowlers that we have in the backfield, the easier life will be for Cam Newton when he is thrown into action. I swear had DeAngelo stayed healthy and had one of his trademark awesome seasons last year, none of you would even consider letting him walk. He is STILL one of the best RB's in the NFL, and he is OUR'S. Let's keep it that way.

Another reason why the article was crap and that Bucky Brooks is an idiot.

Sidney Rice, receiver

Ideal Fit: St. Louis Rams

The Rams desperately need a No. 1 receiver to help Sam Bradford fulfill his potential. Rice is a playmaker with outstanding speed and quickness. He is capable of running the entire route tree, and his versatility will allow him to be a big part of the game plan under new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Remember, McDaniels has been extremely successful getting production out of his top receivers, and it would appear to be a match made in heaven based on his scheme and Rice’s skills.

Bad Fit: Washington Redskins

The Redskins need more firepower in the passing game, but the presence of a starter (John Beck) with a popgun arm makes the situation a poor fit for Rice. Beck lacks the arm strength to throw the ball down the field and that would limit Rice’s effectiveness. The money the Redskins can throw at Rice will certainly be enticing, but he would underachieve in Washington due to the quarterback situation.

Hard to replace these guys ...

Santonio Holmes is known for performing under pressure, but would he be the toughest free agent to replace across the league? Our experts weight in.

More ... Santonio Holmes, receiver

Ideal Fit: Washington Redskins

Holmes is the best wide receiver available on the free-agent market and is capable of thriving as a No. 1 receiver in any scheme. While the Redskins' muddled quarterback situation poses an issue, the creative mind of Mike Shanahan could take Holmes' game to another level. Shanahan transformed the likes of Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey and Brandon Marshall into Pro Bowlers, and he would make Holmes a star in Washington.

Bad Fit: Minnesota Vikings

Holmes certainly fits the Vikings' offense from a skill standpoint, but the prospect of joining another team built heavily around the running game might not be appealing. Holmes has never been prominently featured as a “go-to-guy” in an offense, and he might not be willing to play second fiddle to Adrian Peterson in Minnesota.

So Rice is a bad fit in Washington because of their QB situation....but Holmes is a good fit despite their bad QB situation.

Apparently Bucky does not comprehend the concept of logic.

Article is complete garbage.

It has been established and proven over and over that the model for today's running gme in the NFL is predicated on multiple backs.

The days of one back carrying the complete load is over.

it has been established you don't need to invest tons of cash and 2 first round draft picks into you backfield as well.....

Agreed.

I am not saying that the Panthers will keep him....or should keep him. Just that Brook's logic as to why he is a bad fit here is garbage.

Personally, with Stewart, Goodson, and Sutton....I would rather spend the money on a WR, DT, or CB.
