Huh, Peppers...

This Peppers situation is a strange one... I feel like I'm waiting for something to happen and that I would be disappointed if nothing did, but I don't think anything will.

In all honesty, I'd be more upset if we didn't do anything. We would be forced to cut some more depth just to sign the guys we draft, let alone not get any FA's.

I haven't been following it closely but someone said we had like 1.9 mill to work with. That's enough to sign a 2nd and a 3rd rounder and that's it.

I don't know who said that, but we have a lot more room than that. We've been clearing space and hopefully continue... especially resigning Delhomme to lower some cap space.

You're probably right, but one stroke of the pen from Delhomme or trade with Peppers will give us more than enough...

The Panthers cap situation isn't preventing them from being active in FA.

The fact that they aren't going to go out and sign any top end FA's is a big reason why we aren't active in FA. Fox and Hurney have a plan. I know, shame on them for not sharing with us, so we can sit back and just let things unfold with the confidence of knowing their plan!!!!! (deep sarcasm)

Peppers doesn't have a stranglehold on this team cause of his cap hit. His cap hit is very similar to last years. Yet we still picked up some free agents, and had more than enough room to sign our rooks.

Believe it or not, Hurney is pretty damn good at these things.

true.

our cap situation isn't ideal, but it is workable and there is enough room to do what we need to do to improve the team.

hurney has said that he won't accept anything less than 2 first round picks and he doesn't have to. once someone comes up with an acceptable trade offer then he will move to use the freed up space. until that happens he doesn't have to do anything. until further notice, peppers will be a panther next year. if he is expect a good year out of him as he tries to impress other suitors. he can be the DE equivalent of haynesworth for the exact same reasons.

Sorry if my post made it sound like I was in the "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING" state of mind, I'm honestly not. I'm bored at work due to no one showing up because of snow, and I'm just trying to spark some conversations.

I have no doubt that Hurney will take care of things but (as I've stated before), I'd rather not pay Peppers 17 mil this year just because he's not worth that much to me.
