Today's "Oh You Thought The Lockout Was Almost Over? Well..." News

Classic posturing, he wants to make sure the owners understand that the players are in no way desperate to sign off on a deal (even though they are).

Same mentality you should buy a car with, no matter how bad you want it - walk into the dealership and tell them you don't really need or want to buy the car today.

Hm...

Some player reps have departed ... Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth and Broncos S Brian Dawkins among them.

My interpretation is guys who have left - about 10 - are OK with deal & whatever exec committee recommends.

I just heard on NFL Network, Steve Wyche said that it seems like the owners are ready to vote on a deal, agree on it, and move on. If there's a hang-up, which some believe there is, it's on the player's side.

NFL Network is saying that a lot of today could just be the player's actually learning the CBA, and then debating it. Isn't this what De Smith's job is? Tell the guys to accept the deal. Tell them it's the best terms possible. And tell them to sign off, damnit.
