What meshes is that if he goes we have no downfield threat => no running game => no offense. We need an offense so that our players can KNOW what it's like to score. Thats pretty crucial to rebuilding and learning. If we replace him with an equal value then it might not be such a problem, but some kid comin on here and referring to him as if he's done is just foolish.

Take some Smitty bashing lessons from CRA and least have a reason behind youre argument other than "he's old and we dont really need him". Instead it comes off sounding like . . "EHHH! I dont know a frikking thing about football and I would love to share this with thousands of strangers".

what is Carolina's record when Steve Smith has been hurt in recent years since the rebirth of the ground attack (2008- present).

We had no downfield threat b/c of Jimmy Clausen and still had a productive run game.....what they did was amaznig consider what defenses were doing late.

also it is silly to think I am bashing Smitty. He is in my top 3 favorite players to watch in Panthers history.......I am just pointing out when he ages a rebuilding franchise simply won't be a place for him. It isn't for a lot of players.

I just dont get how yous say let Smitty go so we can bring in a vet receiver. How much younger of a vet are yous lookin for? Or the whole D.Will/ Stew < Stew/ Goodson/ Sutton.. Simple math, folks... We can keep them all if the players want to be here... Or, Im completely wrong and feel free to destroy my post with stats and force fed opinions... Have at it..

I think you might be right. I can also see Chud wanting to bring in a guy like Randy Moss. He is the type of WR he likes.. one who can get a jump ball. The problem is motivating Randy.. seems like the Panthers have been willing to take risks with players lately though.

Smitty's never had much of a problem going up for the jump ball, despite being like 5'7...
