Stewart wants us to hang on to Williams

those guys were carrying over 300 times a season. Our guys take half the punishment those guys do. He's not.the average back yall act like he is. Think about it Dwill can play at a high level at least 3more seasons then ease Stewart in to take the majority.

I have never bought into the number of carries per season, it's all about mileage, and DWill has a ton of it.

RB's approaching 30 don't need to get big contracts, and in a season where DWill is the best RB on the FA market, he is going to get a big one.

I think the injury history of Stewart and recently of D-Will makes the decision simple, you keep Goodson too. Have to.

Finally someone with sense. What, we game plan this year so Goody gets extra touches, hope he produces to gain trade value while our expensive guys watch and plan for next year? Besides, I'm pretty sure this is Goody's contract year, so he might not be tradeable anyway.

The fact that pretty much every time Rivera has talked about our offense or what he expects from our RB's he includes DeAngelo as part of the group tells me that the team will push hard to re-sign him. And the fact that DeAngelo has clearly stated that this is where he wants to be makes it very likely he will be a Panther this season.

Some fans may not appreciate what DeAngelo brings to the table, but Rivera certainly does.

but I think fans put too much in the "I want to be here" talk. Of course FA are going to say that......ones with potential for big bucks and that will be in demand want everyone going after them including their current/former team....which can help drive the price up.

Peppers was fairly vocal about wanting out of Carolina, and he was able to land a $90 million deal. Therefore, I don't think this can always be considered true.

Peppers is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, and he happens to play one of the, if not the hardest position to fill on a roster.

Comparing Peppers to DWill is like comparing Peyton Manning to David Garrard.

Carolina had already driven up the price tag when they paid Peppers 1 million a Sunday.......so although done in a different manner his former team was used in dictating his price tag.

I'm sorry, but I think a bunch of people ITT are full of shiit.

You guys know that Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo are really good friends right? Jonathan isn't saying he wants DeAngelo to stay just to be a nice guy or a good teammate, he probably means it genuinely. How does DeAngelo staying not benefit Jonathan? By splitting carries, not only is it more likely that he'll be fresher throughout the duration of the season, but also more likely that his career will be prolonged.

Which brings me to the "DeAngelo is 28" argument. He's been splitting carries his entire freakin' career! DeAngelo probably has the legs of a 26 year old RB due to the fact that he hasn't had to be the 25-30 carries/pg guy. The fact that DeAngelo is here helps Jonathan and the fact that Jonathan is here helps DeAngelo. And we see the results on the football field.

DeAngelo has said time and time again that he wants to be a Panther. Why, honestly, would a FA say that if they didn't mean it? If they do say that, they're telling 31 other teams that they prefer to stay with their home team. If they don't say that, they're telling 31 other teams "COME AND GET ME!" So why would players just say that to blow smoke up fans' asses?

At their best, we're talking about quite possibly THE most talented running back duo in the entire NFL and why people are so quick to give that up is so far beyond me especially considering the support they can provide for Cam and his development. Yes, we have a stable of running backs, but you need to lay down the pipe if you think we can replace Williams with Goodson or Sutton.

Williams wants to be a Panther, Jonathan wants him to be a Panther, and he needs to be a Panther.

Wasn't comparing the two, just using him as a local example. If you want someone from the same position and similar skill set..Michael Turner. He wanted out of San Diego and was able to land a lucrative deal.

    • Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.
    • Except Bryce was the main reason we were in it
    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
